Did I just ♥♥♥♥ myself?
Alright so I'm playing as SolForce Immersion and I tried to research Spectre camo long story short the research failed so can I try again at some point? Can I not research anything else in drive technology? Did I just ♥♥♥♥ myself?

There is no technology linked from Spectre Camouflage, as far as I know.

So I just have to unlock the rest of the tech?

Get AntiMatter research done and that'll unlock a great deal more techs for most everything. AntiMatter is pretty much the #1 most important tech in the game as it unlocks all the end-game stuff.

thing to note
When you fail a tech it gives you the option to try a feasibility study again. With better stations etc. later in the game you could stand better chances of getting it.

If you really wanted to research a Tech, and the game wont let you (like it wont let you research Admiral Engrams sometimes), then a bit of DNA splicing is required. Edit the savegame using a SQLite Editor, Change the value of the "player_feasibility" column in the "player_techs" Table to 1 for the Tech you want to research (or change all values to 1 in the column to research all techs). Avoids the annoying part of the game controlling your research choices.
I also found, editing the "player" table to make the starting Money to 500 Mil lets you avoid the grind of colonizing systems and watiting for research. With 500 mil, every turn gives you 5 mil so most researches are done in a turn or two. On turn 90 or so I was being attacked with Dreadnaught CnC by the AI.
