No, not at all. It takes a genius to get past this game's steep learning curve because it's so complex and it lacks a manual. If you do get past this game's learning curve, then the success of your game relies solely on luck and not actual strategy.

There is a manual a beginers guide a wiki and a video walkthrough! Is it worth it? No - maybe someday its still a work in progress. At the moment on my computer it takes a painful amount of time to go from one turn to the next. Have you played the original SOTS? its a good game and maybe in a years time try SOTS2.......

It DOES have a manual. It links from the GAME'S LAUNCHER, open your eyes.

And wow... relies totally on luck? Your username seems spot on as you've spouted nothing but lies and then don't even bother to explain your reasoning.

I like to compare sots2 to the Arma serie of games. what do they have in common? they are both quite difficult to learn but when you do grasp them they offer a very gratifying and deep game expericence. having fun so far. I actually found quite entertaining the learning process itself. just my 2 cents...

CosmicAhole is living up to his name. The learning curve isn't that bad if you actually RTFM. The game actually relies on luck very little - it relies mostly on your adaptability and decision making skills, which is how it should be. Also, there's an integrated IRC chat in the game now, often with veteran members of the community who are willing to answer questions for new players. The game is likely pretty cheap right now, so give it a shot.

Is it still a horrible buggy mess, though? The launch was so bad :(

Thanks for the answers guys.:)

Am assuming that most of the luanch bugs were fixed right?

Yes. There have been MANY updates since launch. Screen transition times are much better as well, turn transition times are quick as long as you don't try playing a large galaxy with 7 AI players...try something smaller with say 3 AIs and you can have fun.

Yup, only small bugs remaing and the game recently recieved a free expansion.

The metric score is very unreliable and is subjectable to corporate relations. I wouldn't use it as a factor when buying games.

I wonder how many times that excuse was used by a student after bombing a final exam, lol!

Perhaps a PASS/NO PASS will suffice?

Oh, wait, EvilCorporationsTM are out to malign SotS2, it's all a wash!

Actually, metric score has a 68 score currently for "Critic" and an 8.1 for "User".

You took what I said out of contents, the calculations that are used to get the score are unreliable (If you want to know how google it) and the sites that make the score are usually effected by the companies that have adds on their sites (hence their source of income) so that the games released by those companies get a better score than what they really deserve.

Am not saying that big companies will go out of their way to target a game, but the fact that they are concidered a good source of income for the site and simply puts the score into question. There many be cases where its given the game a fair rating but I still wont uses it as a basis to by games.

Thare are many other reasons and like I said if you want the details google them.

I got it on a Steam Sale and I think that the game is really good. The learning curve is very steep but after that.... lots of fun!
If you like 4X games, I would recommend it to you. If not, I would say try something else.
