Does anyone know how to get strafe sections to go
I alway have the problem that the ships don't manage to point at the enemy correctly resulting in very low firing rates whith even lower hit rates

its a combat stance.
i know but it works only ~20% of the time
manual firing runs. tbh though the ships in this game are designed around broadsides
Depends on your faction. Solforce love broadsides as do Hivers, but Tarka despise them.

Use Neutral Stance and set your Facing to Target (one on the far left), and your ships should always point at your selected target.

Pursuit mode also tends to work better than Close to Engage stance, but again depends on your faction. Each one's Pursuit mode works differently, for example the Liir one will have thier cruisers orbit the target.

The main trick for leveraging Strafe sections is clicking the middle facing button called "Facing". Looks like a Triagle pointing directly at a circle. This combined with targetting orders or other stances like Persuit will help get the most of direct fire sections like Strafe and Blazers (and direct fire photon torps, etc.).
iv had this problem too and its so annoying cause my main battle ships have fixed weapons in the bow and wont aim them
pfft lancers are primarily for stern chases as far as im concerned. primary armament on my ships has always been torps and fusion cannons.

This +1

And lancers are very effective at crusier killing when used properly and you enemies aren't packing later armours and structural reinforcement techs /muwahahahaha

There is no way to get ships to properly aim their big pretty lances. Just don't use those and stick to weapons with a decent firing arc instead.
There are 2-3 "facing" options such as broadside but you'll want the "face target" option.

Then there are 4 "stance" options. You want Neutral or Pursuit. DO NOT using Close to Attack or Stand-off stance when using direct fire weapons.
