New Re-Review of SOTS2

Bottomline: lots of interesting things, but the UI (including some usability things like missions etc) sucks enough that it's not worth it.

Sheesh... the developer seems a tad defensive. The review actually seemed pretty balanced and fair to me.

(After checking the link and reading that OP's and mods responses); WOW! What a biy@tch! I purchased the game (Swords II) at a 75% discount off GG, but now even I (ALMOST) regret my purchase! :D Heheh. I mean; sure, you may try to defend your product in a SANE, rational manner, but the moderator over there (whoever she is) seems totally emotional and out of whack when it comes to attacking the games criticizers. I have NOTHING against the games developers AT LARGE, but I think they should pull off just that ''one person'' off of their public relations/forums department :p
PS! I have not played the SOTS II yet, BUT I DID play the first game (and its expansions) and I had actually quite liked it because of its ACCESIBILITY and fun combat (fun for a space 4x, at least)

That was a fair review, I don't agree with some of it but it was extensive enough and shown that the reviewer at least tried the game, PCgamer review OTOH was a pile of manure and it looked as if the reviewer didn't try the game.

I agree it is incomplete (and less than stellar). But I think is because the reviewer went over the weak points of the previous review to see how they had improved, but lots of them haven't (almost anything to do with usability).

You know, I was reading some of the background lore on the various races on the SotS 2 wiki and I wondered if it was written by a very angry woman.

For example, this quote: "Misogyny is a relic of a day and age when humanity was ignorant, backward, and foolish — not to mention being soft and spoiled enough that it made sense to disenfranchise one half of the species as a sop to the ego insecurities of the other half." There are some other quotes on there from different pages that seem to border on misandry, but I don't want to turn this into a "gender issues" thread.

Any way, go figure, the angry forum dev is the one who writes the lore.
