Is it a bug or am I just that bad?
hey guys, I'm playing the hiver race and fighting the loas and I'e notived that a few things are not working.

One: I can no longer intercept the loa accelerator gates (I used to be able to do that but the option is now grayed out). Can anyone tell me what I might be doing wrong?

two: I cannot spy on my enemies, I can do counter intel but no intel at all, in fact, I can't even click the button

and lastly, is there any way to "turn off" the sensors? for example, I've got a nice, brand new leviathan but it has to comme with heavy ship missile (can't put anything else there) and the issue is that when I get in range of the missiles, I can't destroy a planet because I can't reach it fast enough for any other weapon to enter firing range before the end of the battle, anyone knows a good trick to take ccare of that?

thanks in advance and good game!

Increasing ship speed reduces weapons and sensor range, that could work. This reduces cruisers sensor range. I have not toyed much with leviathans. As for intercepting loa gates......really not much point as hivers. It takes ages to fly there and is much easier to just warp a fleet to the gated system the turn before their attack fleet arrives.

I figured I didn't need to do it but i find it somewhat irritating, all those gates sticking around my planets when I could just use my original survey fleets to blow them out of the sky... I'll try increasing the speed, see if that changes anything...

thanks for the tips

Thats fine :)
I made a small mistake. When you up the speed it does not reduce weapons range it simply turns them off. The sensor range is reduced (as mentioned before) though. As hivers you just let people come to you (until you have gated their systems) as you are easily out-manuvered at FTL speeds.

PureCruncher about FTL speeds being out-manuvered.

If you get both of the farcaster research upgrades then you can intercept other fleets at least up to 10 light years away from your gates. Just a small window but still better than have no option.

That said Human and Horde Zuul are the only two that as Hiver you can't intercept at all so keep that in mind. All other race have to deal with node travel the same way by waiting at the destination solar system. So don't feel too bad about facing node travel empire as a Hiver race.

Oh ok thanks for correcting me. I was not aware you could actually/reliably intercept with farcasting. I learnt something new today :)

Sorry for the wait...

So i actually should be able to intercept their fleets... and I tried and I can intercept neither battle fleets as in fleets with actual ships in them, nor the accelerator fleets and I could do both a while ago... anyone's got the faintest i dea why it's turned off?

Do their fleet have antimatter engine? If yes then that could contribute to you not being able to intercept. For most race the antimatter has far more FTL stragetic speed. The two exception to that is hiver since technically their stragetic speed is one light year a turn with antimatter engine. The second exception is Loa which whose engine upgrade basically means you have larger fleet capacity for FTL.

I honestly don't know if they have anti matter, i'll look into it. The only thing I know is that when the fleets are not close to an accelerator they travel at .75 ly/turn which is roughly the same as my fleets if i'm not mistaking

Hmm sound odd as long they travel rough same speed as you are then you should be able to catch them. I am assuming you are Hiver trying to catch Loa fleet?

yep! I dropped a message on the official forums, the over all opinion is that it's an update that might have broken the hiver interception. I asked tech support earlier today, if you want i'll keep you informed of what they say

Sound good.

as it turns out, it seems as though no race can currently intercept loa gates when they are in open space, it should be fixed in the next update!

Oh cool. At least this has been resolved :)

Also, when loa are moving as cubes, i don't think you can intercept them because they are using their gate moving technology which no other can use (unless you can become a cube too? )

sorry for the long reply time, had I never been able to intercept i'd agree with you but the thing is, i used to be able to do so...
