what to do....

so,ive been trolling the forums and checkin this game out for a week or so.
2 questions..
1. my rig 2,8 gig x4,4 gigs of ram,Gforce gt 440 1 gig of ram,os windows 7 32 bit home.will it run...
2.seems like its buggy i can handle that.....if theres another 4x strat space sim thats better what do you recomend ? because this game looks cool and ive seen the utube vids and i like what i see..
So if i cant run it or theres another 4x space sim out there i should check out .those are my questions......
P.s. ive never played a 4x space sim but i know ide spend weeks on a good one that looks cool so im not afraid of the learning curve or long drawn out games....
Ive just got the itch for a good space strat game ,actually i want to be let into the fold and i dont want to be discuraged by a game that wont work or sucks......so.....any advice ?

you should be fine, then larger battles may bog down though so be prepared for that. As for a better 4x? Nothing compares yet. Let the Haters hate and enjoy the game for what it is. Just know that it dosent hold your hand and there will be some research on your part to truelly unlock the potential of the game.

Oh man this game is awesome...glad i played it now as apposed to earlier...ive been playin it like non stop since i got it.once you think you have something figured out like upgrading tech trees or what kinda weapons you should get per your particular race....something else pops up...like the officer skills or the battle manager and placement of patrol fleets.....dude this game is awesome....just what ive been needing....something that makes my brain hurt....thank you guys for hookin me up !
but more importantly i feel as if ive found another gem hidden away or neglected and forgoten by the gaming comunnity..something very few people play or even know about...something i can safely call my own in my small group of gaming freinds..
very satisfied.....20 bucks well spent...

Personally I think this game is a diamond in the rough really, there's so many things about it that are really well done, and the devs have been patching and working on it constantly to be fair. The original SOTS was a similar story, first release it still needed a bit of tweaking and work from the devs but after a while they got it running properly and it became one of the best 4x games out there IMO. People will always look at the release of the game and be wary of it, but it's grown a hell of a lot since then, and is better for it.

if you actually need to ask that question there is something wrong with you.

go buy the game, make sure you get the complete collection.

The first game is excellent, without a doubt. Give it a go, and if you liked 2 then you'll be sure to get hooked on SOTS too ;)

Once you upgrade from SOTS-2 to SOTS-1, you'll never want to go back...

lol, but so true. Maybe they'll dig out the soure code for SOTS1, add some features to it, and release it as SOTS3, "what it should have been"

like i said,ive never played a 4x space game berfore and i figured the newest was the best ,sadly i concur thats sometimes not the case ( im still a die hard Daggerfall player ).Cool now i have another game like this to look foreward too....and if i remember correctly its even cheaper....thanks guys !

Endless Space is a good one, also if you want even more advanced ship designs and a bigger tech tree i reccommend star ruler.

Stardrive is very close, I'm really enjoying it at the moment. I would say SotsII is graphically nice, but mid to end game it becomes well.. just less fun to play. I enjoy the speedy start, the few combats that ensue then it starts to slow down, not massively but it's there. Station upgrading becomes a grind, I dont like to grind anything if I can help it other than the Mrs, but some things in Sots2 remind me of trade skilling in everquest.. That said I have cracked up over 600 hours on the game so guess I like it.. I reckon I will catch up with stardrive though :)

The biggest problem with SOTS 2 is the performance when processing turns, especially late game, the UI is not amazing either. Endless Space is superior in both of those areas, but SOTS 2 is still a nice game, just needs patching, still....
