Could you please add a sticky about the CCP662 error (which causes the game to crash at map initalization and requires you to empty out the map/cache folder).
I'm pretty active in the Vicky II Steam forum here, and I must have answered that about 1k times already in the past year I am here (hardly exxagerated. I've got the solution ready to copy-paste on my desktop...) so I would love it if you could add one, so I have to deal with that fewer times in the future (and more people can enjoy playing Victoria II quicker!)
Apparently the Beta patch fixxes that, but as most people who launch the game first time arent opting into any beta patches ...
search victoria 2 in your files on my computer
I will rename the title to help people find it though.
I don't recall that helping and the method Lembley42 mentions is proven to work and helped me AND it is the solution in two or three of the stickied thread(s) in the VicII Tech Support subforum on Paradoxplaza ( one or two of these threads are sadly currently hidden since the forum update).
Some also have to delete the time file or the whole cache in Documents/Paradox Interactive/Victoria II/map, forgot if only for those with or without the expoansions, as it is indeed mentioned in the sticky thread, but the one in the game folder seems more important.
maybe you should check file autheniticty with steam. It will check if anything is corrupt.
What exactly does it say? Does it give the microsoft windows launching error "V2 has crashed"?
Go to properties, and change your compatability mode to windows xp. Probably will work. Keep on trying other versions of windows too. It is usually just a startup error.
OR maybe you ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up some file? I had a save with a mod and when I tried opening it without the mod it crashed. For this, check file authenticity with steam (library>v2hod)
Do as I told man... Tell us if it worked. (I think it worked for that guy cause he didn't reply)
