Great concept; poor implementation.
I love the idea of summoning elementals prior to casting spells. In theory it adds some immersion and believability to magical systems. Great idea.
As for the execution of that system...not so great. What starts out as a great concept ends up as a data entry job. All you're really doing to implement this concept, is furiously typing away on a keyboard in accordance with a set of data provided by the program's instruction, then pressing a single button to execute the data string. I'm sorry; in the every day world, people get paid to do this sort of rote, mundane work.
And it gets even worse on a controller, where keyboard presses are replaced by terrible quarter circle rotations of the right stick. Try executing that as quickly as key presses. Sorry; dont think so. Which is a pity because the game is built on the idea that you will do just that - use the quarter circle rotations as fast as key presses. And if you dont - you die.
So great ideas...terrible, terrible implementation. Avoid this and the frustration that comes with it.
