Please do not clutter up this forum by dumping known problems in new discussions!
I've ceased my support of this thread, as most problems nowadays don't have a known fix. However I'll stay subscribed and will help if possible.

(Please be aware that I'm doing/did this purely voluntarily. I'm not an employee of Paradox Interactive, just a volunteer moderator.)

This had fixed most crashes in previous versions of the game, however, some crashes nowadays don't have any known fixes or workarounds.

There's no solution, it's a localisation problem and won't be fixed since Magicka doesn't have any dev team working on it anymore. A community made mod could fix this though.

Windows 10 issue - Background process
Set magicka.exe to run in Windows XP SP3 compatibility mode. You can find this option by rightclicking magicka.exe. Open the properties, then Compatibility tab. Tick "Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows XP SP3" and press OK. This prevents the program from running as a background application. There is an error message at startup, but just press continue and it should be fine.
Dungeons and Daemons: stuck in the library / can't move
If you go a little further, there's a checkpoint. Activate it and then die. You and your friend (who couldn't move) will respawn at the entrance of the library and everyone should be able to move.
This is just a workaround and obviously not a good option if you're trying to get the no-dying achievement.

  • Explain what you were doing. What mode did you try to play? Multiplayer or not? Did you cast any spells in the moment of the crash? Level progress? Etc.

  • Rightclick Magicka in your Steam library and open the properties.

i have the new asus g75v republic of gamers edition laptop running the i7 with hyper threading, bridgeing, and a nvidia geforce gtx 660m 2gb, and im having trouble gettng my game working. after i downloaded the game i went to run the installer and it just keeps on giving me this message ( windows is checking for a solution to ur problem.), but it comes back that it cant find the issue so im wondering how do i get my money back for the game and the add-on that i purchased?????? or can u guys help me get it working?????? someone please help me out here!!!!!!!!
I joined a game with already 2 players. The fourth player joined, but the name wasn't displayed and the ping was 0.

Whenver I try to play magicka it just keeps saying windows is trying to find a solution to the problem (It won't load) and it will exit out. I can't even get into the game! I have a brand new HP Pavillion g7 with an intel core 13 and a intel hd graphics 3000 card. Why doesn't my Magicka work?
I have the exact same problem as Nasty is Raw.
My specs: Win 7 64 bit
2.8 GHZ quad core CPU
6 GB RAM
ATI Radeon 6750

The game worked before with these specs...

Hm, seems they messed up some stuff with the last patch (1.4.10.0.)

I'm stuck on Chapter 2, because every time I get to the part wher eVlad warns you about Jormungandr, I go to the next area and I have this problem:

I can still move around and the goblins can still attack me, but I can't see anything that's going on.

I've got Intel(R) HD Graphics, Core i3 for what it's worth. The game runs fine up until this part, albeit a tad bit slow, which I don't mind.

Whenver I run the game, after the starting features, it inexplicably shout down. No error are reported.
I wanted to play the game online.. in the first menu when i click play online option.. the game freezes en does nothing. i can move the mouse and close the game and steam with ctrl alt del... i've checked everything. the documents and port forward. please help D:

game won't run: "Magicka.exe - application error. application has generated an exception that could not be handled".
process and thread IDs change each time, and clicking "cancel to debug the application" does nothing but suspend Magicka in a zombie-like state that needs to be killed using XP's Task Manager.

no error report generated. nothing.
and running as Admin gets the same result.
my machine meets the minimum requirements except CPU (mine's an AMD 3000+, not 3500) and exceeds them in GPU (Radeon HD 3650).
.NET and DirectX are both installed and up to date.

EDIT: solved by @Cpruisken: "search for this \Steam\steamapps\common\Magicka\Dependencies and install xnafx31_redist file... it shoud fix it". thanks!

I'm also having the problem of "Magicka has stopped working. Windows is checking for a solution..." upon pressing Play. It doesn't even start the game, no game screen or anything. Literally just bought this game a few hours ago. Any word on why it's doing this, and when we might see a fix?
