Call of Duty: Black Ops was an interesting game when it first released back in 2010. It had a decent story with a nice twist ending, as well as breathing new life into the multi-player portion of the game, by taking away a lot of the grind, and simply letting players choose what they wanted to unlock. A feature that, sadly, continues to remain absent in the newer Call of Duty titles.
Unfortunately Black Ops hasn't aged well. It's plagued by some of the worst gameplay mechanics from the older Call of Duty titles. Some of which I hoped the series had left behind in Modern Warfare. Namely, endlessly re-spawning enemies, the aim bots with varying degrees of brain damage based on your chosen difficulty, and of course; plot triggers. Meaning that you can't progress in the story until you cross a specific invisible line in the sand. Pass.
I do have fond memories of this game, at least back when it first came out, but we have seen better before, and we have much better now. Point being, if you have fond memories of Black Ops, as I do, stay away from this version of the game. Playing it again only serves to sour those good memories.
