Wow, Singularity was actually pretty good.
The game was released around the same time as Timeshift, both dealing somewhat with using time-changing combat abilities. But hands down, Singularity was a much better game.
PLOT - above average
Let's be fair, for the most part of the game, you have no idea why you're running around killing people and charging up some bomb. The basic premise is your character, Renko, saved a dictator in the past, and now the present is under totalitarian control. So now you try to go back and right that wrong. Very linear story, BUT you are presented with 3 possible ending cutscenes, depending on who you shoot at the end.
GAMEPLAY - very good
You have a choice between some very generic guns (assault rifle, shotgun, pistol), but also some very interesting weapons. Here are my favorite:
1. Sniper Rifle - has a limited ability to slow down time to let you line up the shot.
2. Seeker Rifle - special weapon with limit supplies that lets you control the path of a sniper bullet.
3. Autocannon - combined with the time-stopping Deadlock, this is hilarously over-powered.
I stuck with autocannon and sniper rifle for the majority of the gameplay.
The Time-Manipulation Device itself doesn't have very many abilities. I think Deadlock is what everyone uses, just to freeze all the enemies in its bubble. Impulse sends a short-range shockwave, and is very satisfying when enemies get up close to you, and you either blow them away or apart.
VISUALLY - nauseating
It's an old game. Everything looks beige in color, and texture resolutions are very low. The geometry also makes you feel a little sick.
SOUND - lacking
There is absolutely no music, just creepy ambient sounds. There's no music even for the title screen! The only music is in the CCCP propaganda films! Gunfire sounds average at most. The voice acting is also mediocre. You don't get attached to anybody.
OVERALL - more enjoyable than I thought. A little on the long side, to be honest.
