Why no pause function?
Why does this game lack a pause function? It reminds me of games like Baldur's Gate, Dragon Age, and Arcanum in terms of control style, but forces me to use high micro for good results. I would like to know the justification for lacking something in single player so simple that could make the game more enjoyable and less micro intensive for the sake of being micro intensive.

I agree, I would also like this option!

Oh boy, this one have been discussed to death on the 'old' steam forum. Basically there was 2 camps one wearing the green we want it boots and one wearing the red we don't want it boots.

Personally I started out as a I don't want or need it in the regular game (the story line) as I had no problems at all keeping my men in line, and at least for me it would ruin the flow of the game. I don't know how much work it would take to implement it as a possibility in the single player, though I could imagine multiplayer and single player sharing routines, so might be considerable changes needed.
Though as I finished the story and started going down the really hard areas like Deep caves with threat level 15 areas, and things got very hectic I wanted the pause button in certain areas, since it was very close to impossible to beat certain areas the regular way.

So for me, if they can do it, adding it as an option for the single player game would be ok for those who need it..Not everyone have the reflexes and speed of chuck norris..
I do agree with you on pause not being needed for multi. In multi you do not need to do all of the micromanagement yourself. Also while some people can micro, definitely not everybody wants to.

Did they even bother to address this on the old steam forums? If not I write it off as them being lazy/undermanned excuse and/or adding artificial challenge.

well the game is a DIY, so fatshark have done all the work on their own, and I think funding have had a lot to do with which state the game was launched in and which features were included or decided for or against.
Furthermore, the guys at Fatshark may have decided against the pause function since they might have found it would ruin what they were trying to achieve, and at the end of the day, it's their game we just play it and comment and ask for lots of stuff ;-)

When that is said, they do listen to the community and fix things that isn't as intended or add something that is sorely needed. From my pov, nothing major would be lost if a tactical pause option can be added to the single player game, and then just leave it up to the player to use it or not. But it is entirely up to Fatshark if this happens or not.

i agree with the pause function, its hard to control the team if there is no pause, because the battle is fast, and my team always died before i had a chance to heal them.

Not everyone is fast with super reflexes. I can deal with it, but others would like to have it and maybe some even need it to cope. In the single player nothing would be lost for you or me, if those lacking the reflexes get the possibility to use a tactical pause function and manage their troops. Some even like to play games that way.

As long as the game can still be played without TP and the pause function is not present in the multiplayer game, it would only make it appeal to more people if the single player part gets it

I CAN micromanage it, but when a game demands that kind of micromanagement, I may as well play DOTA2 or a game I feel is much more rewarding for that kind of effort with character management.

I feel as though it should be added. Those who need to use it can; those who don't can ignore it.

I was aware of this game at launch and nearly bought it but the lack of a pause option, so you can plan your moves, took it out of the category of turn based tactic/strategy that i love, and into yet more clicky reflex territory. Just checked back here with the sale on front page, and sadly not been added, oh well , hopoefully x-com will make more devs consider it.
