Not sure if I should buy or pass
So the reviews I've seen for this game go from very good to complete rubbish. That paired with the really low meta-critic score (for what little that means) have made me drag my feet a bit on picking it up. I'm looking for someone to sell me on this game or tell me why I should save my hard earned cash for something better.

Well I will obviously tell you to buy it, but then I am biased :). You can always try out the demo to see for yourself.

ha! holy biased opinions batman! wasn't expecting the dev to be the first with some input. that being said i think I'm just going to preemptively take a chance and spend $5 on the game. Even if i don't like the game, at least I'll feel good about supporting a game developer that is taking the time to show interest in their community!

Haha - just read this and bought :) Got to love that instant ninja like response from a dev. Also the current steam sale has the collectors edition priced lower than the normal one XD
I thought about getting the game at release - but low metacritic score+lots of other releases don't make indie games an easy sell :/

I would tell you to try the demo, and then buy if you like it. With the dem you will get a taste of the game and it's easy to tell if you like it or not

- Could you give me a thought on your purchage as I'm thinking of getting the game as well. But would like to at least know how much can be played in co-op (online) and how the game in general is

I bought it months ago because I knew it would get updated with co-op. Which I just saw it was. Time to break it out with my roomate! :D

People, this could become a flash sale so wait buying it
Verloren Jan 3, 2013 @ 11:49am
@Proxidian please let me know how the co op works and if there are plenty of stuff to do online rather than single player :)

so I've put in a bit over an hour now and so far I've really enjoyed what I've played! Even if Krater doesn't end up as a community choice today, I still think its worth the $5 I've spent on it. Glad I took a chance on this one!

@Will
That sounds just great, I'm going to wait to see if it hits the choice tomorrow if not I'm still going to get it and just hope that the online part is catching and has some worth :)

The CC shows 75% off, which is odd, because that's what the CE is currently at. I just played the demo (actually had the demo installed for awhile, but never got around to it until now) and I must say, I quite enjoyed it. I was expecting an Action-RPG like TL2, but it was quite different...not in a good or bad way. It's sort of a cross between TL2 and DAO, but without the latter's pausing in combat, which isn't necessary in Krater since you only have to worry about 6 abilities at a time. I should also note that I enabled "Smart Casting" in the menu, which makes things easier, casting based on mouse-over so you don't have to change targets (awesome game design decision!).

I'm going to wait for the CC vote to end simply out of curiosity, but I'll be picking it up regardless of the result....the CE of course, as I assume the 2-Pack doesn't include Cerebro?

To someone with the game, how many classes do you get to choose from? In the demo you were forced into just three, but I did get an item that said it was for a "Slayer" class.

I'm interested in getting the 2-pack for co-op play, but I read that there are only a few co-op maps at the moment. However, on the store page it claims "hours" of co-op play. Which is true? Or are both true and each map just reallllly large?

The only thing that makes me doubtful about getting this game is having to reroll new characters everytime you hit the level cap with your current crew. That seems like a really odd design choice to me. Other than that the game seems fine from what I played from the demo, so is the price.

Actually it isn't. You are a mercenary boss with a bunch of mercenaries, as you get more cash and more stuff you would hire more mercenaries to make your team more versatile. aka variance in the way you add your boosters/implants, the composition of your team, that sort of stuff.
I actually don't find it to be a problem at all, more of a way to let me run wild on how to compose my mercenary team, and since the levelling up of new chars are quite fast it's not an issue in my book. You also do have the choice of letting your starting characters go to the bootcamp to be able to level up to the next levelcap, so you have all the possibilities you need.

Hell, my wife and I did something that we hardly ever do, we went to a fast food joint to get dinner the other night since neither of us felt like cooking and we didn't feel like dressing to go to a nice restaurant.

We spent $16.00 for the two of us at the restaurant... $16.00
So, I'd say for $4.99 you should just get the game and give it a try, if you don't actually like it, well... You won't have to flush it down the toilet like the dinner from the fast food restaurant that you only got 20 minutes out of, you can just delete the game and move on and not worry about it since you only spent $4.99 on it anyway.

Personally I'm finding it quite enjoyable, double so since it's on that %75 off sale for $4.99 if you get the collection pack which is odd that it's less expensive than just the game itself, but what ever.
