Nvidia Graphics 310.70 Graphics Artifacts
I am getting artifacts in game on these drivers, alt-tabbing, resettings video settings, doesn't do anything. It happens within a level and after I go down an elevator.

Just for notice, I do not get artifacts in any other games, especially more demanding games like Skyrim, BF3.

Did you try disabling AMbient occlusion and other things in the Nvidia control panel like forced Anti Aliasing etc?

I did not try anything in the control panel. The graphics look fine when I first load up the game and enter the main town. I can join a coop session and play but it seems to happen after playing for awhile.

I have a video as I was live streaming for awhile when it happened. The streaming software has no affect on it as it is a standalone card and simply takes the output directly from the graphics card.

go to 1hour 20 minutes

edit: still no problems playing Skyrim for 5hours straight.

My guess(and it is very much a guess) is your card is overheating and that creates the artifacts, for some reason I couldnt see the video so I can't say for sure.
Anyway, I know for a fact that this game have had some cards showing temperatures they would otherwise only get by running furmark so it is a very likely scenario that your card is overheating.
It also had problems with sli and crossfire, so those are also possible problem possibilities

Like I mentioned I can play Skyrim, TF2, Dirt 3, FarCry 3, Dishonored etc. for long sessions (5+ hours) and no crashes. I have a G15 keyboard and can monitor temps on my GPU at all times. Temps are not the issue.

I have only a single Nvidia 570. The video get deleted since Twitch seems to cleanup older broadcasts more vigorously. If you check that link you can see past broadcasts that are 10+hours long.

I have the problem with artifacts as well. I have GTX 650 card. Tried the latest drivers as well as the previous ones. Same thing happens. Sometimes graphics get corrupted right at the start, sometimes after 30-60 minutes but eventually it all goes to hell and becomes unplayable. My card is one month old, not overheating for sure and I'm not using SLI. There is also an older thread here called "broken graphics" where a user posted a screenshot of how it looks. That's what I get.

hmm..well I suppose we need to get into the bag of tricks and see if we can do something about it.
From my PoV though the graphic artifacts (as the screenshot sinnerman refered to) relates to the drivers in some way, I seem to remember nvidia cards at somepoint had an issue where the drivers didn't supply enough power to the cards creating similar artifacts in other games too (I have no idea if this is still an issue though).

anyway..

1. try verifying game cache if you haven't already tried this
2. have any of you tried uninstalling the game and then reinstalling it

you could also try to uninstall your gfx card driver, and then go into safe mode and use a driver sweeper to remove the driver completely, then reboot to normal mode and install the latest gfx driver again ?
I know it does sound like a weird thing to do, but sometimes when installing new drivers remnants of the old driver are left behind(not properly removed) causing problems, so a full uninstall of it and reinstall sometimes solves the problem.

The next is something you shouldn't try unless you know what you are doing
if you aren't scared of fiddling with your card you could try to underclock it.
You can also try to give it a little more voltage, though do not try this if you are clueless about it, overvolting can result in your gfx card dying a horrible melting electronic death if you give it to much, so be warned!!!

Thanks for the advices, wiredhands. I have tried verifying game cache numerous times. Whenever I do that I get the message that one file fails to verify and needs to be redownloaded. That happens every time I use that option. Steam then downloads that singe small file...every time. But it has no effect.

I don't have any issuses playing other games. Have Diablo 3, Guild Wars 2, Torchlilght 2, DoW2 installed and they all run perfectly.

However I have a slew of bugs and glitches here that make Krater nigh unplayable at times: random rubberbanding, flickering, text flickering, blood splatter flickering, missing skill effect graphics, artifacts, stuttering, loosing ability to heal after battles, broken game interface (inability to loot fallen enemies and stashes). I've encounterd all of these and more within couple of hours of gameplay.

I will try to uninstall and reinstall the whole game again to see if that has any effect (haven't done that yet) and then try to remove the card drivers completly like you said. I'm not willing to fiddle with my card just because of issues with one game though, cause everything else on my PC runs as smooth as butter.

Could you post a few screenshots or a new video of this please?
(The one you posted is now unavailable)

Cheers,

Those look like geometry errors to me, which usually happen when a card's GPU s overheating or overclocked too far. If the distortion looks like "static", then it's usually the video card memory that's failing or overclocked too far.

Just as a data point, I'm running 310.70 (310.90 now) on a GTX 670 without any graphical glitches.

Like I said before: the GPU is not overheating, it's not overclocked and I run more demanding games perfectly fine. I have a good case with excelent air-flow. Temperatures at high load (playing Far Cry 3 on high settings) never exceed 50-55C.
I'm only having problems with Krater, graphics just being the tip of the iceberg.

Sinnerman, I think that one file that it keeps saying needs redownloading is to blame for the problems somehow. I have seen the issue before But I can't find the thread where it were solved (was somewhere on the 'old' steam forum).

From the top of my head, try closing down steam, delete ClientRegistry.blob from x:\Program Files (x86)\Steam
run steam as administrator and try verifying cache again, and run game..Sometimes running as admin is needed as for some obscure reason windows sometimes won't allow files to be replaced or overwritten otherwise

Could also be something with a small part of the VC++ being installed is corrupted somehow and needs reinstalling, have seen that a couple of times

Thank you for all the tips. I really appreciate your help and patinece, wiredhands. However my patience is wearing thin. I've tried deleting ClientRegistry.blob and runing Steam as administrator. It didn't help...

Still...whenever I leave the game and quit Steam, one file fails to validate when I come back. It redownloads the same bloody thing (304 bytes each time)

This has been an exercise in futility. Can't remember the last time I had been forced to jump through so many hoops. I must be some kind of masochist, since I've spent over 10 hours trying to play this broken, bug ridden mess, and it's been nothing but torture. If I had a boxed version of Krater, it would be flying out of the window right now...preferably hitting that annoying neighbor's kid that keeps throwing firecrackers in my yard.

Music is good though. Synthpop that reminds me of Kraftwerk and 80's SciFi movies like Blade Runner. So...kudos for the soundtrack I guess.

This was what caused a similar problem months back, but this should've been fixed
