The game is poorly optimized for macs, I have a MacBook Pro and not even that could run this game.

I just re-downloaded the game, it still crashes.

I'm having trouble as well, the Macbook Pro should hold High to Extreme graphics. I can't even complete the tutorial mission. I've waited to play this game since March. I guess we just have to wait till Fatshark fixes the issues.

Krater is a DirectX 11 game and a 330M is a DirectX 10.1 card -- so there is that…

Fix the issue? HA. Doubtful. I bought this game months ago and the issue is still around. Has been since before I bought it. If a game-breaking bug like this still hasn't been addressed then I don't think it will. Also I have a macbook pro optimized for post-production software so it has more than enough specs to run this game properly so my problems aren't arising from that.

This - "Geforce 330M" is the problem, Krater is heavily GPU bound, and the 330M is just a rebadged geforce 230 GPU. Which is a pretty low end GPU to start with...

If you find the config file ('Mess only has a windows PC), the following link has info on how to manually tweak it to get better performance: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2813707

What's the graphics card? Because if it's the 13inch version, it only comes with intel HD 4000 graphics, which just works (use tweaks I linked to, to get it working). If it's the 15inch, what might be happening is that Nvidia's Optimus graphics switching tech (assuming there's a Mac OS version...) is not recognising Krater and forcing the game to run on the intel HD 4000 GPU.

iirc there's options to force settings in the Nvidia software, but I'm only familar with the windows version so you'll have to use teh google.

Wait: http://appleinsider.com/articles/10/04/13/nvidia_says_new_macbook_pro_graphics_switching_isnt_optimus

F**k. T_T

Fortunately google saves the day again: http://www.macrumors.com/2012/07/10/gfxcardstatus-allows-easy-control-of-macbook-pro-graphics-cards/

Grap that app, and use it to make sure krater is running on the nvidia card, then tell me how it's going.

Also, while the 650m is definitely not horrible, it's hardly that good a graphics card, as nvidia gimps their mobile line with lower clockspeeds and less shader pipelines than the desktop versions to reduce power use. So you can hit high on somethings (textures) usually, but not on computationally complex stuff like shadows, shaders and effects like anti-alaising (and friends), tesselation, post processing and all the other eyecandy without performance hits.

Albeit it all depends on how the game engine does the eye candy and what directx/openGL version is being used, so usually some testing is involved to see what your system can handle.
