But yeah, this fork of bitsquid used for krater is full of GPU taxing eyecandy that needs moar optimisation, though with temps of 88C, that's usually a sign of case air flow issues or dust build up on the GPU heatsink for older computer builds.
for what it's worth, it does look real nice! ;)
as for the temps . . . i play a lot of games, and monitor temps somewhat regularly, which, of course, is how i know this is out of the usual range. sometimes in particularly intense moments in other games i will see higher, but not persistently higher . . and of course, if it does persist, i adjust the settings until it's "safe" (which I was barely able to do, here, which is why I posted.) I'm fine with it peaking at around 90, and I have it set to alert me at 95, but in this case, the fact that I was going to leave my PC unattended for an hour or more, and it was already idling at 88, is what was concerning me.
airflow hasn't been totally neglected but this rig is probably due for a dust blow-out session.
also FWIW it stayed right about there (88) until I shut the game down.
ty again!
again, tho: the concerns that prompted this post are #1 good cooling/bad cooling, good gpu/bad gpu aside, this behavior is out of step with what i see in almost every other game; #2 I was planning on leaving it unattended, so I was looking for a larger safety margin, not a smaller one.
