Krater crash after Preparing to Launch
Hi,

for some time I have not played Krater, but decided to return to the game. To my surprise Krater do not run after 'Preparing to Launch'/black window (with this green Loading... circle) and back to desktop. I made all of the Steam support recommendations and even reinstall Krater game.
Can anyone help me?

PC, Windows 7, ...

(four months ago Krater launch without any problems)

Check your software firewall, It might be in its block-list.

Oh another tip, try to reinstall your codec pack.

I've firewalls and antivirus off and all blocking ♥♥♥♥ too. But codecs? What You mean?

I'm just sick of all this problems with this game, all the crashes makes me very angry. With other games like TLII I don't have as many problems as this one.

Thanks lowl1fe!

Codecs is a guess, because after this green spinning thing at the beginning, the logo video appears..I can remember having a game which could not load the video because of a codec problem..after reinstalling a codec pack, everything was fine again. As I said, it is just a guess.

hmmm... ok, I'll check it right now.

Thanks again.

Did you go through the stuff in the Krater Support 101 thread?
Vinncent Dec 31, 2013 @ 3:36am
Of course I did.
The problem is that when I'm verify integrity of game cache Steam always download the same Krater Co-Op file.

Cheers, right onto the next rung of troubleshooting then.

Info needed please: http://forums.fatshark.se/showthread.php?tid=2977

And assuming this can be solved, I'll add it to the support thread, as it looks like this might be a new issue. Hopefully it's something straight forward.

Vinncent have you tried running steam as administrator when you do the verify integrety of game cache for Krater ?

yup

It's odd that it tries to download a coop file. If I do the verify integrety thing it redownloads a 304 byte file, I think it might be the steam installscript.vdf file since its the only one I can see have been modified in the library (and that one shouldnt cause any problems)

Hmm, let's see..There was something I suggested back in the day to make it work first time for others I think..At least trying it won't break anything

Set the run_game.exe in the Krater folder to be run as administrator the first time and after the first time running it, it was seemingly fine not to have it set like that anymore.
Running steam as admin should give the same result when running it, but still it's worth a shot trying it. Cause I recall that for some people if it didn't have admin the first time being run it couldn't make the savegame/setting folders..
Anyway, it won't break anything trying it (and it only takes 30 seconds to try that)

If you already did try it, then just ignore it.

If things are still not working

at x:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Fatshark\Krater there is some crash/log folders

if you could try running and see if it makes a new log/crash file and then make it available on a random download file site or paste it to pastebin (or a similar site) and post the link I'll look through it and see if I can figure out what is happening
