Want to help us design creature abilities? Share your ideas here!
Hey, everyone! We're working on creature ability design for a future patch and would love help from our co-designers. (Hint: that's you!) What kinds of creature abilities do you want to see in CHKN? Maybe you have an idea for a life block with a new ability, or life blocks that unlock an ability when combined, or a stat based ability... or anything! Share your ideas in this thread.

We'll start! Hrm...

- Spider bodies can make webs that trap foes

- A creature with 4 large elephant legs can Super Stomp and damage multiple enemies

- High strength creatures can carry chests or saddle bags full of items

- Chameleon blocks can give a creature camouflage

- Healing ability of some sort (magical unicorn horn with rainbow healing powers!)

- DANCE PARTY!? (rattle snake tail maracas?)

Some of those are weird but that's cool. What are your ideas?

EDIT: We also posted a survey so you can vote on which types of abilities you'd like to see the most, to help us figure out what to focus on first! You can vote on those here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/chknabilities

I was thinking the (this is a random idea) feather things...colorful feathers...I forgot, but those colorful feathers people barely use could spread out and scare enemies away. I also do have a suggestion...and it's very off topic, please excuse me. XD So anyway I was thinking you could switch through creative and survival, maybe if you made a roleplay server and wanted to set things up. That's all, sorry for my awful ideas.

Not awful ideas at all! Thanks for the ability suggestion. On the creative/adventure switch we do something very similar on our most recent adventure mode streams. We set up a base and put starting gear in chests in creative mode, then switch to adventure and invite friends to join. If you have a particular setup you like you can save it as a workshop world as well to be able to replay it at will. This can then be combined with scriptable blocks to make full scenarios/games to play.

Thank you, and thank you, and no problem! .3.
I have another suggestion, but it's for a maybe future creature. Maybe you could add a fox and it would be able to dig! Unless there's already something for that?

Brain block... let's you create the animal rules it triest to follow in priority with a simplified syntax. like, "If [Hungry > 40] then [go find food] then [eat food] the [return to] [home]"
or "If [egg threatened] then [super stomp]". Having animal's perosnalities vary seems like it could lead to some interesting animals. (And animals without a brain block would behave according to the default methods. Maybe adding a brain block starts with the default list as well, instead of starting from scratch each time.) If you want to allow advanced players be complex, include "Goto" like responses. Like if all the priorities are number, have one that allows a goto a different priority. So, for example, "If [attacked] goto [priority 40]" to make things more interesting. I can see it giving lots of room for additions later, like memorizing (storing) stuff like locaitons, characters, etc. So you could do things like "If [sad] travel to [nearest known safe area] and [call] [nearest ally]."

I don't know where the brain block is, but I might be able to find it in creative. Thank you!

Now this idea may seem weird but special hats (that you can put on your creatures) with ablities
Meat On A stick:Increased speed for canivors and onimvors and deacreased hunger decay
Glitch Hat:Your creature will be reviveable because when the die they melt into a puddle
so usig a new block (Solidifyer) you can revive your creature!

Ha! I actualy made a WHOLE list when I started playing and my head exploded with ideas!
Dog snout can find randomly spawned creatures ( helps to make world alive when you kill everything)
Chicken tail - automaticaly tries to lie egg in nests
Girrafe/Horse leggs- SPRINT- for short ammount of time you can run EVEN faster (need cost more). It can be used on threadmill.
Bunny Legs - Higher jump ability
WIngs/ Feathers - creature can float instead of falling
Flower Body - Nearest plants grow faster - can't be stacked
Wolf mouth- Roar that scares surrounding creatures for a while so they run away from you. Dragon should get it too- Then it will be harder to beat.
Cameleon blocks that changes to ground color creature is standing
Cat legs - Sneaking - creature will make no noise when walking with ctrl pressed- it will not alert any creatures even if it's near.

Personaly I think there should't be fur blocks.
You should get a block that GROWS fur in time - so you can collect it!
Tha same thing with sheep body- it should be able to GROW wool blocks around.
ANd the special plant parts that can grow food/healing items. Animal that feeds you? AWESOME!
That would add dynamic changes to creatures!

That's a cool idea! I totally agree.
i think there should be slap casued from arms

Preying mantis arms that shoot out to grab and immobilize, allowing several free bite atttacks. Bombadier beetle abdomen with a defensive "booty blast", which could also make a great base defense pet.

I would love the abillty to create pufferfish. The reason I say this is because pufferfish are my faviourite animal and I'm trying to get them added through anyway I can. I have allready made mods for 3 diffrent games that add pufferfish to them. basicaly I love pufferfish, please add them to the game. It is my secondery life goal to get pufferfish into anygame I can. Also please make them puff up.

as an alternative to saddle bags, creatures will share inventory only with bonded players they trust. this both gives bonded pets extra utility, without giving someone ability to pack up am entire base and relocate.

at least the big ones.
another idea: allowing bonded creatures to remember waypoints. you can then ask creature to point in direction of the waypoint. this is a nice alternative to beacons and provides more interaction with your creature.

I'm sorry if this is a mile long, but I have a bunch of suggestions. It'd be neat if creatures with multiple tails or tentacles could wrap around inanimate objects and enemies. Another cool thing would be adding long vine body parts or tendrils so that certain creatures could hang from the top of trees, drop down on unweary creature tamers like the player and pull themself back up to wait for more prey. There's more suggestions listed below.

- Talons for creatures with at least two wings to grab other creatures and carry them away

- An entire set of mosquito, tick, leech and flea body parts (so that you can have dozens of parasitic bugs stealing health from your favorite creature whenever you pass through a jungle)

- Some sort of lung body part so that creatures with high strength can blow enemies away instead of having to fight with only their teeth, beaks or claws

- Combining the lung ability with fire breath or spitting abilities to have different versions of that ability like firing huge fireballs instead of just having flamethrower breath, spraying acid mist above water instead of spitting acid or turning the ink squirt ability into a spray paint ability

- Commanding tamed creatures to use their abilities on things other than enemies might be interesting. Making your pet Cthulhu paint your house black or vandalize a temple by squirting graffiti on the walls would be funny.

- A set of sea monster body parts (including fins and an acid-spitting mouth) so that players become cautious whenever they go for a swim at the beach.

- A set of other underwater creature body parts so that there's a variety of life below water.

- A set of giant mushroom body parts so there could be hostile fungi that attack by making their hyphae erupt from the ground and wrap around targets

- A massive laser-firing eyeball that takes a long time to fire and has a clear warning but deals tons of damage to whatever it hits (This would probably weigh a ton and add more awareness to a creature than it would ever need. It would also be good for creatures that guard a temple)

- Having the ability to upload new life blocks with new abilities to the workshop might be nice
