This review is going to incorporate all three Half-Life 2 games, but will mostly focus on Episode 2 specifically. Half-Life 2 changed my opinions of gaming overall. This is one of the most original, scary, unique games out there. Its physics are brilliant, its story is brilliant, and its characters are even better. Alyx Vance is the best follower a player could ask for because she isn't dumb, and neither is the AI. The enemies are pretty smart too, sometimes. But everything about this game says a lot about what the potential for a game can be. This certainly isn't just your run-of-the-mill fps game. Every single detail was thought out and tested, and it clearly shows. Especially in Half-LIfe 2 and Episode 2, the story is among the most phenomenal, yet simple stories I've ever experienced in a game. The execution and ideas and potential for this game is nearly limitless; it ranges from scientific to fantastical to horrific to disturbing and to funny. In all, Half-Life 2 is gaming done right.
