Episode 3, possible date
I developed this theory on the 3rd of September (In Australia), when there was a sale for Half Life 2 at 66% off.

Half Life 2 came out 6 years after Half Life (The original) and it’s been 6 years this year since Episode 1 came out.
Also, Half Life came out on the 19th November 1998, and Half Life 2 came out on the 14th November 2004, 5 days earlier in November.
So if Episode 3 comes out 6 years after Episode 1 (Which released in 2006) and 5 days earlier in November than Half Life 2, it will release November 9th, 2012.
There is a sale on today (3rd of September, 2012) that lasts for a day, for Half Life 2 at 66% off and what date is exactly 66 days from now?
November 9th.
Is it a coincidence or clue?

Edit: I don't really think that Episode 3 will release on November 9th, but some Episode 3 related news may be revealed that day, or something to do with Episode 3 will happen.

There's been so much speculation over the years...we just have to wait. More dates = more disappointment.

HL2 has probably gone on sale at least 20 times since The Orange Box was released. You forgot to take that into account when deriving your formula.

Well it has been on sale a lot, but it just seems coincidental as 66 days from when it went on sale is a date, 6 years from the release of Episode 1, and 5 days earlier in November than Half Life 2 (Read my theory if you don't undertsand the relevance of those dates). It may not be of any significance but I just wanted to post my theory in case it is true, though I have no actual evidence that it is, just theories.
But honestly, doesn't this seem like the sort of thing that Valve would do? Remember the clues for Portal 2? If not

Also, in a video Valve posted on Youtube to explain how they made a Counterstrike: Global Offensive trailer, a Half Life 3 icon is seen on the right side of a man's computer at 23 seconds.
(This is most likely just a troll, but I thought it was interesting).

LoL I don't know how I got here but the theory is really interesting, I can't see anything at 0.23sec I think Valve is not yet ready with ep3. Nice research you've done!

I think someone thought too much into this.. I doubt we won't see Gordon (other then BM:S) for a year or so.. I doubt anything this year. They are releasing a bunch of other stuff, that need's a lot of fixing. *cought* Big picture mode *cough*

that is a nice theroy some great thinking on your part but if it dosent come out on that day then we all know that companys always want your atention so you can buy 10 dollar crap and when you finaly waste all that space in your computer and all that money you realise that games dont matter the source program does because im not exited for new games im exited for new programs to make games more hd because ive got an ailenware computer that i bought for maxing the graphics of games without lag and i hope i can fill this computer up with hd stuff

To be honest, I don't expect Episode 3 to release on November 9th, but I am thinking that something related to it will be revealed that day (Possibly news, screenshots or other information about it).

I'm pretty sure Valve Time doesn't follow any kind of rule.

I heard that it was planned to be released on December 21st, 2012. I don't necessarily believe that. In fact, I think it's ridiculous.
Chrix Sep 13, 2012 @ 4:30pm
It certainly won't be released on 9 November 2012. But I would be thankful with just some news about it.

Well, Valve is busy learning to count to three.
