Performance on my decrepit old rig
Hiya. So, it's been many years since I've gamed. I left the saga after HL2 Ep1, not because I was disappointed, but because Real-Life got in the way of Half-Life. Many components on my desktop have long since fried. What I've got now has been cobbled together from old junk from the closet:

-- Pentium 4 2.53 GHz
-- Nvidia FX5600 (256 MB)
-- 1 GB RAM
-- WinXP Pro

I'd like to finally (6 years late?) pick up the story with Ep2. The store page says:

Minimum: 1.7 GHz Processor, 512MB RAM, DirectX® 8.1 level Graphics Card (Requires support for SSE), Windows® 7 (32/64-bit)/Vista/XP, Mouse, Keyboard, Internet Connection

Recommended: Pentium 4 processor (3.0GHz, or better), 1GB RAM, DirectX® 9 level Graphics Card, Windows® 7 (32/64-bit)/Vista/XP, Mouse, Keyboard, Internet Connection

So it looks like I'm somewhere in the middle. I'm wondering if anyone can give me a realistic idea of what performance I can expect. I do remember grumbling back in the day due to framerate drops on a much better rig (I probably had a GeForce 6800 Ultra at the time, not sure). I'm less anal now, especially when it comes to singleplayer, but if I won't be able to hold 30 fps (HA! I remember ragequitting when I'd drop below 100 in multiplayer), then my ancient eyeballs will fall out of my head and I'll have a stroke or something.

So yeah. Thoughts greatly appreciated! Long live the Free-Man!

Thanks!

Ive ran this on a 2 ghz p4 so yours should be better.I was able to max it,but I had a much better video card X1950 pro. That thing was a beast and still performs well to this day. Before that I had a similar gforce 6200 256mb that also ran it well, you had to use low rez but med settings worked just fine and it played smoothly.
