Mapping tools
I want to create my own maps for BT1 because the ones on the website either spoil it or suck. any grid tools that anyone suggest?

I used grid paper and a pencil.

yea that's what i ended up doing, just scanned my first one to the Guide section here, 300dpi so it's plenty big and easy to see. Has only visable doors, and walls though. No spoilers

How about you visit The Adventurers' Guild and download their various maps from Bard's Tale 1 then Photoshop the spoilers away? If you're doing this from the scratch and never played the game before then don't forget to stock up on erasers.

I played this game when I was 8 years old. At that age everything is so exciting that you don't mind the mean darkness areas with two spinning fields in quick succession, only to notice much later the map you're drawing makes no longer sense. Happy times ;)

i suppose i could photoshop them, didn't think of that. Would be less tedious. My only concern then would be if the maps resolution is big enough, on that website only 1 or 2 of the providers actually gave maps that were even correct which is sad because it means no one bothers to check the crap that's thrown up there. But yea if the map is a nice size maybe i'll do that, though honestly I am having some fun drawing them.
