My first experience:
-chilling at starbucks and start game -skip opening cutscene -have no idea what's going on except that I need to investigate crashed helicopters -exploring/making my way towards a heli -get a message over the radio that a storm is coming and that I need to seek shelter -game marks a location on my map to take cover in -it's a dark ravine -walking around when suddenly I hear a growl in the darkness -storm is messing with my flashlight so can't really see -mutated human wearing a gas mask leaps out of the darkness and attacks me -i spill my venti mocha frapa♥♥♥♥♥♥♥t all over the floor.
10/10 would spill my overpriced coffee because of STALKER again.

I try to be as unbiased as possible when writing reviews, but I'll admit right now that this isn't exactly going to be a balanced critique. As someone that enjoys bleak, unforgiving games, Call of Pripyat is one of my favorite games ever, particularly with the MISERY mod installed. It is far from a perfect game, but its intent is exactly in line with what I want from a game. Combat is brutal, the world is unforgiving, and you will rarely have everything you need, but the warm glow of a campfire and the idle chatter of fellow Stalkers gives a feeling of relief and hope which I can only compare to talking to someone like Solaire after a brutal boss fight in Dark Souls.

Open World, Quests, NPC's with some humor and story and of course the overarchng story is compelling. I played the original and like in the original the AI is challenging. There is unique environments, lots of weapons, armor, with a minor need to eat and manage resources like food, medicine, ammo.
Day and night cycles. Monsters perform on schedule as well as the NPC's giving a life like atmosphere to the game. Artifact hunting, making money and buying some of the better gear and weapons and UPGRADING them is fun and adds to the game.
What would be nice is if you could create your own faction and take over the maps setting up your own HQ and upgrading defenses, facilities, tradesmen, etc.
But there is MODS. Ton of MODS. One which takes all three games and kind of combines them and enhances the experience into something new. This game is definitely worth the purchase.

Good day stalkers,
As the title implies, I'm wondering whether I should play misery or vanilla.
I'll be playing SoC and Clear sky first, so I'll have some feeling of Stalker before I start CoP.
I know misery is brutal, and I love the sound of it.
So my helmet is a little bit broken, especially a visor, and it damages vision a little. I can't repair it, because conditions are too low. And traders on Skladovsk don't wanna repair my stuff. I mean, there is no any repair option, they just talk about m...
So i removed all my mods and played vanilla CoP again..
So i removed all my mods and played vanilla CoP again for the first time in over 10 months and oddly enough, i found it to be much more fun.
I honestly do not know why, because vanilla is way unpolished compared to a lot of mods, especially gunplay, and...
