Although this game is great alone. With mods it is waaaay more enjoyable. Arsenal with 60 new armos and 200 new weapons is great. Atmosphere 3 is usually included with all of the larger mods. But, Misery. Dear God, Misery. It scares people off because its incredibly difficult. It shouldn't though, it's extremely immersive, letting you live an actual life in the zone, doing what you want to do as a Loner Stalker. Misery is if anything, playable forever, there is so much micromanaging, as far as waking up in the morning, planning on observing a certain area, deciding to go in for the kill, and planning your raid, to cleaning your weapon, to setting up camp for the night and just putting food on the table, to watching your radiation and other needs, to planning a hunting trip to make reap a god kill and harvest the goods. I've been playing this game for a long time, I live for immesive realism games, ArmA, DayZ, Ranger Hardcore on Metro, Master difficulty on the vanilla S.T.A.L.K.E.R., never have I actually woken up in real life, got showered, breakfast, etc. And decided to plan out my ingame day over a real life cup of coffee on a Saturday morning. If you want something real, something that makes you feel like you have to earn it, all of these games, you play ♥♥♥ the main character, gunslinging, medkit addicted, bullet eating protagonist with a misson and everyone stepping out of your way for your story the world revolving around you. But not Misery, in Misery your just some everyday stalker, walking in eating your flesh (the ingame monster) bacon wrapped in brown papar to keep the grease from dripping (actual description, immersion is life) planning on going for that artifact today, or that camp, the rounds your taking for your gun, the equipment you'll need for that area, maybe a sleeping bag and a safe place, incase youre out ill nightfall or an emission happens all of the sudden. In order to be a badass gunslinging veteran stalker, you had to train yourself and learn to be a badass stalker, absolutely no handholding in the mod. Misery will make you feel like you're there, but its not for everybody, the mod is infamously difficult, harder than Dark Souls, harder than the original Ninja Gaiden (well maybe not THAT hard *cringes at Ninja Gaiden*), at any moment something could leap from the marshes or shadows, whether it be a enemy stalker bullet, or the claws of a bloodsucker, if you're not on your toes with some real friggin' reflexes, you will die. A lot of times, no matter how good you are, sometimes you just get unlucky and a stary bullet will nail your head ending your journey in the zone. If your a serious immersion freak, wondering how you would really do in the zone (with basic knowledge of weaponry and cooking and medicenes) Misery is for you. If you like things tough, but still want to be a bit on top of everything else, try Master difficulty with Arenal Overload. However, the game is enjoyable and incredible regardless, 10/10!
