Need help with "Investigate Department 1."

So I've spent about five hours poking around the Jupiter Cement Plant. I've found several documents about the guass gun project and some random folders, but not the item I need. The quest, which tells me to investigate department 1, tells me to go see Beard, who has no dialogue even remotely about this. Help? x.x

i got the same bug tells me to go see Beard and he doesn't do a dam thing i just got the info from the choppers black box and then this happened.
When i pick up a document it doesn't update the mission Road to pripyat like it should and the blips for them don't appear on the radar like they should just the one that tells me to go see bear.

i found the guide from game pressure before finding this thread and doesn't help at all.
i've got bugs in the other STALKERS and always found a way around it.
Please tell me we just missed a step and this mission isn't bugged making me have to restart.

i'm about to give up playing these garbage stalkers and go back to SHoC and try Lost Alpha

So it a rare bug then or something?
i would just ignore it and move on but it a main quest to move through the story kinda hard to ignore.
