Adding CD-copy to steam
Hello!
I have Call of Pripyat on disc, but when I add the .exe to steam and try to run it, the game starts, but steam acts as if nothing is running. No overlay, and it shows me as not playing any game.

Anyone know how to get steam to recognise this game?

Thanks

First, you can't "add" a disk copy of CoP to Steam. You have to buy it on Steam. Steam just doesn't "work" with normal disks. You could try going to the Games tab up top/Activate a product/ follow the directions and add your key, but I know now it isn't going to work.

You can add non-steam games to steam so that they can be started via steam and you can access the steam ingame overly ingame, but it won't work with CoP even though it works with every game I've added in the past.
I have the disk version of CoP, have added it to my Steam Library, and if I click on its 'Play' button from within Steam, the disk powers up and the game runs.

Same, but the steam overlay doesn't work and it doesn't show I'm playing a game on steam when I alt tab for me.
ah, right. Just tried alt-tab and it minimised the game and showed the Steam window. I have not bothered with that side of things before, so don't know what it is supposed to do.
