And I couldn't find anything to stop it but luckily the stutter is not constant in my case.
"This very little tool patches x86 executables in order to let them have 4GB (instead of only 2) of virtual memory on x64 platforms. This tool comes very handy for applications which need a great amount of virtual memory like games, 3D renderization, multimedia etc."

That's not me, but it's a great tool. May help.
Has helped myself and others.

But yeah I have used this same application by this same guy for several years from my DVD version, gog, through to steam. So have many others (hopefully there are links on google to pages where other people have offered the same app as a fix.)
Beyond that, this is my main account with over 100 games and a bunch of posts and reviews etc. So hopefully that also lends to the idea that I wouldn't bother using it to try and get random peope to install a trojan or something.
WTFSexyHeadphones references this app in the first episode of her misery LP. You could check the video and even double check with her that she used the same one.
The other would be to search for a program from somewhere you trust, that does the same thing : )
I think it has something to do with how the game loads AI and loot; because I've noticed that the more loot you have in a stash, or when you get close to a camp; the more the game tends to pause and stutter when you get within "range" (just a theory)
There's a ai 'switch' you can mod that can reduce the amount, but it's been awhile since I messed with it.
I dug around a while ago for a fix (worked wonders for me, instant results) and finally found one in the deep, dark depths of the internet!
You'll just need to navigate to your "configs" folder, found within "gamedata". Once you've done that, edit the "alife.ltx" file. There will be a line near that bottom saying: "objects_per_update". I think the value for that, by default, is 10 or so. Change that to 1.
Here's an example of my alife.ltx:
https://gyazo.com/2c670b028de3a44fa3ac5a866ba1b6f1
You'll also see a line saying "switch_distance". To my understanding that's essentially the a-life, and the range it switches on/off. I bumped mine up to 900 while I was at it and noticed no decrease in performance. Even with that switch distance of 900, my stuttering was gone entirely.
Hopefully this has helped you and your problem. Any questions or extra details, feel free to add or reply to me and I'll see what I can do to help further. (I'll stay subscribed to this discussion anyway)
Good hunting, Stalker.
I cannot find that file, nor a "gamedata" directory..
