Can't start game? Details within.

For a while now I've been having issues with STALKER not loading at all. It shows the small splash window before it would usually load, then crashes to desktop with no message. Checking the event viewer I see the following message:

Faulting application name: xrengine.exe, version: 1.6.0.2, time stamp: 0x4b275197
Faulting module name: xrCore.dll, version: 1.6.0.2, time stamp: 0x4b25fc61

So it seems the game engine itself is crashing. I treid verifying the integiry of the files but it didn't do anything.

Any tips/patches? Thanks in advance.

Delete user.ltx to reset to the default video and key bindings. See if it will now start.
