Welcome to Torchlight.
This game is created by the "Blizzard North" development team. They were the programers to one of the highest critically accailmed dungeon crawler series; Diablo II.
Heres whats up:
You have three different character classes to choose from. The game is a standard dungeon crawler and it was developed by an amazing team! You are basically trying to save a town from an evil wizard who has poisoned the mines and with it has unleashed a miasma of death and destruction in their wake.
I can't say enough good things about it. The game itself did so well there is a sequel and I highly approve of playing both games.
The graphics are a little cartoony but it has the original feel to a dungeon crawler. With the addition of a "Pet" system it allows the user to delve deeper into the combat exercises that you will endure as a part of the game. With that being said you are encouraged to play the game "How you would like to". What I mean by this.. There are achievements for beating the game under 5 Hours as well as finalizing the defeat of the main boss with all three characters or playing the game at an "easy-going" pace with it on easy or normal to a "challenging" pace if you can withstand a "Hardcore Very-Hard" experience.
The game also introduced a "Fame" system that co-exists along side your experience bar. If you kill a boss, finish a quest, help on side missions or defeat mini-bosses whilst enduring the story you are rewarded with fame. Kind of a neat extra system added into the game to allow for extra skill points to be earned.
It certainly doesn't compare to my memories from Diablo II or Lord of Destruction, but that is mostly an irrelevant statement :D
Oh, and Diablo III is garbage. Clearly evident that Blizzard was trolling (Not blizzard north, they are different) when they added in a secret cow level that was full of unicorns. With that being said, this game also has the TRUE dungeon crawler feel by allowing the user to define not only their skill points, armour, gems and pet attributes but also your STAT points are NOT allocated when you level up (Yeah Diablo III is weak).
