I am one of the lucky few that got the Eufloria HD Beta from the Humble Indie Bundle. The game is seems mostly ready for release and is a huge improvement over Eufloria Classic which is distributed by Steam (which also is not available for Mac or Linux). The only thing I would change from the Beta version is I wish it had the ability to change the resolution/size when running in windowed mode. Otherwise, this is something I would highly recommend to others running Steam on Mac/Linux to play ... if only they could.
My expectations for when I should be able to recommend Eufloria for other Linux gamers was set by the eufloria-game.com
FAQ which states: "The full release of Eufloria HD for [PC, Mac and Linux] will be in late Summer 2013."
I get that schedules slip but I figured it would be released for Mac/Linux at least before 2014 (or there would be some updated ETA). What is worse is to get news that working on Mac/Linux became a second priority (or non-priority) in favor of a different platform that wasn't stated in the FAQ at all! So while there was a new Eufloria HD platform release that made it before 2014, it wasn't Mac/Linux but PlayStation Vita instead. I can't help but wonder if this is Omni Systems Limited's way of silently indicating that Eufloria for Mac/Linux is permanently shelved. At this point, I am kind of expecting Wii-U, PS4 or Xbox One releases to be next instead of ever seeing the release stated for summer 2013.
I guess what this means is if your a fan of Eufloria HD, tell anyone using Mac/Linux to buy a Vita, iPad or Android tablet since it seems that it will never actually be release for Mac/Linux except for limited distribution of the beta. :( Bottom line for me is none of my friends that are Mac/Linux users are interested in buying Vita or a tablet.
