A bit hard
Don't you guys think the early level where you had to protect the flying ship from the mosquito like enemies is a bit too hard? I've tried countless times but could not get past that level

It's difficult, but try to just go berserk against them, and maybe only one or two will stay up, which you can go back and handle.

Yeah I thought it was insane. And then, the next level... they explode.

Honestly, I want to stab whomever thought that was a good idea.

I especially love how the camera pans away from you (as you're getting cut apart by one of the constantly respawning buzz-saw drones) to show your allied ships getting shot down.

This game is not for me.

Heh.. wait until you get to the hell level. I don't even remember if that's it's name or if that is what people just called it.. because it will end you.

holy crap. was just wondering if you are able to customize your ship and its weapon yet at the level that I mentioned above? I wanted to love this game because it was pretty unique with its attack physics and precise hit detection but the difficulty of the game early on is disheartening

the main thing that gets me is trying to work out how the damage is calculated. There are times where I just go nuts on something and they only lose a quarter health, and then I might tap into their hammer while it's stitting still and explode.

It's serious fun when I get into a groove but then stuff seems to happen for no reason and it pulls me right out.

I've completed the world record speedrun for this game and I agree that this level is really hard. The best strategy I found was (using the stone mace), time your swing so you hit the worm's head before he throws his claws out, then let him go off screen. Then move away so that the ship you are protecting is closer to him than you. Then, when the ship you are protecting yells or starts shooting, you know he is going to be on screen soon so you can ready a swing. Visibilty is the biggest issue for me. Levels are either very dark, you can't tell exactly where the edges of the arena are are so you bump into stuff all the time or there's tons of smoke and debris everywhere. Or a combination of the three.

I do enjoy the game inbetween the frustrating parts though!

Indeed, visibility seems to be on of the biggest issues here.
Also, maps are too small and with allies flying like crazy sometimes they get even smaller.
Allies sometimes charge at the enemy that you're fighting and hit you as well. Very disorienting.

I'm currently at the level where you have to defend against some invaders. Sometimes there is little space to manuever. A little more space to the left and I would have gotten out of many tight spots. Very frustrating considering that the border is an "invisible wall" that the enemies can pass freely and avoid your attacks.
Another thing on that level- the UI on the bottom left of the screen covers the playing area!

The idea and setting are nice, unfortunately the game is frustrating. The missions could have been longer as well with some exploration involved, more dialogue, interaction with enviroment etc...

Also, when enemies talk to you during the fight their avatars and speech bubbles appear on the main screen and cover the players :|

I really haven't found visibility to be a problem, but I can see how it would be. Maces are always great for me, but remember to buy armor plates and map them to spacebar so you can deploy quickly.

I had some troubles with that level in the beginning, but I think it's not that hard once you get a feel for the mechanics.

The biggest thing is that by going through the easier game levels you unlock oother game modes for /all/ save files. in the other modes a character who hasn't started the story can get top tier weapons. some of these things may have been designed with this in mind and it just wasn't sign-posted very well.

its also worth noting that the story mode is /very/ short. if you get stuck on a level it's very quick to start a whole new game, get to that desicion point again, and chose the other route. once the game becomes less of a challenge to you, you can always continue your first game.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the story mode doesn't use the weapons you're using from other game modes, so it doesn't really matter if you've gotten the colossus in Arena, you're still stuck with a lowly mace in your story beginning.

Only in missions that auto-equip you, like a specific level the starts you unarmed. because you can get to the hall mode and re-arm with what you will, and even farm for gems.
