Serious Sam 3: BFE

Game continuously stops for a second or two online only
When I play online, even alone, the game sometimes stops for a full second or two, then it keeps going normally for a while until it does it again and again and again. Is it a common thing or is it just me?

Specs are i5 2500k, gtx 570, 8 gb ddr3, mobo is a Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3P with F2 bios (pretty old one, but never had problems). Video card drivers are the latest non-beta ones.

16:30:24 WRN: Standard shader #ObjectAddress(CEffectRenderable, 0x3d002f80): Tangent map has to be set!

Hmm, this might be something. I wonder if this has something to do with the current public beta patch's new postprocessing shader optimization. Are you using the Public Beta?
Rhyten Mar 24, 2013 @ 3:39am
No, I'm not using the beta patch. I remember that I never had this problem on my old laptop, but I can't rememeber if I had this when I first build this computer :\

This is very strange. Can you please try to do "verify local game cache"? If that doesn't help, please try the latest public beta.

Please let us know of the results. Thanks!

I did a "verify local game cache" and it said my files are validated, then promptly download 11.9 mbs, which are the game executables from what I've seen.
I tried some more games, and it only seems to happen when I create the server. If I join anyone else, this does not happen at all.

Opting in the beta seems to have lessened the issue, although it still happened a few times.

I mentioned this issue a couple of times on the forums, but didn't get any attention to it.

I also posted on those forums and still no answers :\ seems like it's not a personal problem, although not that common either.

The only answers you'd get on those forums would be from me, because the devs rarely check that forum anymore, only this one.

Sometimes internet connection issues can cause this. What are your results after running this? Joining games with 300+ ping rates get really bad and can get disconnects as well.
Rhyten Mar 26, 2013 @ 7:59am
My ping is usually around 50, in-game it gets around 100 at most but this also happens when I'm playing on my own server alone.

Are you using wireless or wired connections? When I run on my own servers which are local to me my ping rate is way under 100 all the time. What upload and download speeds you getting using the link above?

Wired connection, and by around 100 ping I mean of course when I'm playing on a server with other people, not my own alone.

Does it happen while hosting your own, joining other games, or both? What is your internet speed from the website above? I used to get pausing issues when I hosted an on-line game until I started using dedicated servers. Then the problem went away.

It usually only happen when I host, and I have only 0.52 mbs upload >_> I guess that's the reason, though I don't get why it should happen even when I'm with no other players.
