Serious Sam 3 Update 195990 - public beta
Build 195990 for Serious Sam 3 is now available in beta "publicbeta", which does not require a password.

To install the beta, do this:
- locate the game (Serious Sam 3 in this case) in the Steam's "Library" panel
- right click and invoke "Properties"
- select the "Betas" tab
- choose "publicbeta"

Here are the changes:

Features:
- Added Christmas-themed achievements, new player model, and items throughout Serious Sam 3 levels.
- Added experimental support for Direct3D11. This API can be enabled through console by setting gfx_strAPI to "D3D11" and then calling gfxRestart(). This feature is in beta, with possible rendering issues and artifacts.
- Upgraded to FBX SDK version 2014.1.

Bug fixes:
- DirectX redistributable is now included in the build again. This should fix errors such as "Fatal error: cannot set display mode" on fresh installations of the game.
- Fixed several glitches with sandwhales, allowing them to be evaded or to kill players in unreachable areas.

Linux:
- Fixed memory leak when pasting from clipboard.
- Fixed setting fullscreen window in Xfwm and KWin window managers.
- Added logging of current window manager and primary display. This should work for all EWMH compliant window managers.
- Added a controller config file for Afterglow XBox360 gamepad.

I hope it's the DirectX Web Installer and not the entire redistributable package. It's a pain in the ass having EVERY game include 150MB's of something that only needs to be installed once and then forgotten (Except when there is an update).

I've got numerous GB's of space wasted to DirectX Redistributables on my Steam partition >:V

Robert, is gfx_iAPI obsolete now? I seems the correct ones are:
gfx_strAPI="D3D11" gfx_strAPI="Direct3D9" gfx_strAPI="OpenGL"

They will be, just the means to get them won't. Only if you change your PC's clock.

I'm pretty sure that when I talked to Alen about the Pumpkins, he said they wanted to implement an unfakeable date system. Looking at the script, it seems they've implemented something of the like. Since the christmas items, trees, and decorations are all part of that script... yeah, you're probably not going to be able to. (Unless by some off chance you can get the achievement in moddable mode)

Yes, those are strings now. Not sure which strings are valid, Den will know exactly.

They will be available (for earning) in the period of "Winter Festivities" around the new year. The achievements will show on the list for the entire year.

Decorate Christmas tree (just like for achievement "Christmas in Cairo"), but on all levels of the game. :coolsam:
