Serious Sam 3: BFE

Vulkan?
As The Talos Principle becomes one of the first Steam games to support the Vulkan API, can we expect BFE to get the same treatment in the near future?

Why would they revamp the whole engine in a game that runs perfectly fine? D:

Look at Talos Principle, which is now getting full Vulkan support. I'm fairly sure it runs on the same engine as BFE.

Since they implemented the Vulkan API into The Talos Principle, why not do the same with Serious Sam 3? The more they experiment with Vulkan, the more experient, and thus more capable of harness the true potential of said API, they'll be.

They don't run in the same engine version as far as I know. Talos is using the latest version and that's probably the one being used in future projects, but Sam3 I think is using an older version and would need some work to be updated, and then alot of more work to test it again.

If developers has to follow the new stuff everytime it is released they'll never end working on the same project. I mean, then why not add DX12 and Mantle support as we're there, and DX13 whenever it is released, just in time for windows 11.

The second paragraph doesn't quite make sense, as nobody's claiming they should. It's just that Vulkan is already implemented into Serious Engine 4.

But yes, it turns out you're right; BFE and Talos Principle are on Serious Engine 3.5 and 4, respectively.

Sorry, I was just referring to other people that asks Croteam to add support to whichever new thing that gets released by Microsoft or other entities.

Nevermind that second part :)

Ladavac responded, "SS4 certainly will not use the same version of engine as Talos does. It will use a _much_ improved version. Exact details will be revealed when SS4 is officially presented. Talos will support Vulkan on Launch. SS3 not yet, but maybe later."
So The Talos Principle is getting Vulkan support at launch while Serious Sam 3 may be supported later.

Give them time to fine tune it on The Talos Principle. It's still in beta and a work in progress. From what little I know, it's also just a wrapper at this point - at least what's been released for beta testing.

Maybe we can finally get proper multicore support?
