1920x1080 Resolution?
I've edited the PersistentSymbols.ini file and made the lines look like this:

persistent extern INDEX sam_iScreenSizeI=(INDEX)1920;
persistent extern INDEX sam_iScreenSizeJ=(INDEX)1080;

Then made the float line look like this:

persistent extern user FLOAT plr_fFOV=(FLOAT)105;

and yet, whenever I play the game, it's still got a huge black border and looks like a box. I'm running Windows 7, 64 bit.

Hm, I tried and I can set the resolution just fine that way. Can you post a screenshot of what you are seeing?

Standard screenshot wouldn't have captured the black bars, so took this with a phone:

Is 1920x1080 the native resolution of your monitor? Some LCD/LED monitors tend to letterbox instead of scaling if you use a non-native res.

Cant you just use -CustomResolution:enabled -r1920x1080 in the launch options?

This should be stickied as a guide on how to play the game in modern resolutions.

Hi,

Can you please explain how to do this for someone who's not ever done this kind of thing?

Cheers

right click on the game, properties, set launch options.

in the past it was quiet common to use various commands for valve/source games with this trick. surprises me that you never used it.

That's Valve-specific options (-CustomResolution, etc). It won't work with this game.

The approach with PersistentSymbols.ini is the way to go.

If you're going to do things like mess around with graphic options or play mods, I'd suggest making a copy of PersistentSymbols.ini just in case the game reverts back to the highest default resolution. With TSE, I've had some mods use their own PersistentSymbols.ini that screw up the one used for the default game.

Look at this guy whining about his 1080p resolution.
