Well, we generally planned on supporting SS3 and further titles on Linux. Not backporting older ones. But if there will be great and overwhelming interest in the SS3 Linux build, perhaps we can think of something. ;)

Actually, i have SS3 on my steam account, so when i logon with steam linux client, i get the linux version of SS3 directly right? and how about compatibility with other platforms? can i play online with other players running Windows Version?

AlenL: Porting it to linux probably wont make you much money but it would be a nice gesture to the linux/foss community. And im sure someone is willing to do it for free for you. Just go to some channel on freenode and ask im sure many people would be willing to do it for free :)

I would love to see a Unix Version of the game. I hate booting my Mac in Windows just for a few games.

@AlenL Please do the HD version on Linux. Alot of linux gamers have bought SS3 in a bundle with the rest. We wanna play em.

How can we go about this? I want to know so I can get you this great and overwhelming interest :) You did such a good job porting SS3 to Linux.

By the way I actually have bought the complete pack 3 times, the other 2 are for my partner and her daughter, they also run Linux.

A Linux version of SSHD is planned in a special way. However, it is most likely that it will be only done after SS4, as CT is busy focusing on that (and the PS3 version of SS3, still).

That sounds great. I'd really like a Linux version. I'd like to spend less time on Windows and I play Sam a lot. I'd like it sooner, but sure, I'll wait as much is needed.

There were rumors that the older ones were coming to Linux too, but between the HD ones and the Classic ones, are both coming, or just one, or what? Also: which one is better? Classic for older computers, or is the gameplay and feel really that much better than HD? If HD is like SS3 I thought the feel was just fine.

Both are good, but there are differences. It's a matter of taste and opinions. I personally prefer SSHD to the classics.

This was posted back in April: http://www.gamingonlinux.com/articles/serious-sam-hd-serious-sam-hd-the-second-encounter-will-come-to-linux.3434

Any word from any devs on the current status? Looking forward to playing and already donated for these.

Thanks!

Still most likely after SS4, as mentioned earlier. It is pretty possible that the development on the Talos Pronciple also pushed this port a little more away.

Aww, sad. Well, of course I'll take SS4 over these two, but still, would have been nice to play these older games before moving forward with the series.
