Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter

Crashing Upon Clicking Either Save/Load Menu
I've recently ran into a problem whenever I manage to click onto either the Save or Load menu. Exact words of the Error Message is:

Error
The application has malfunctioned and it will now close.
We apologize for the inconvenience.
Please send error log to technical support.


That message didn't explain much about what happened. I don't even know what an Error Log is, that 'nor how to send one. Any of you guys know where to find / how to send it. That and how to fix this crash?

The logs are in the Logs folder where the game is installed. Please send both SamHD_TSE.log and SamHD_TSE.rpt. You can just paste them here - they are plain text files.
We cannot know how to fix it until we see the logs to eventually see what the crash is about. Thanks.

Thanks for the logs. Just for the reference, this was reported as internal bug #29389.

This seems like one of the savegames, or their thumbnails (more likely) are damaged. Still strange that it causes crashes. Can you please package your entire savegame folder and upload it somewhere so we can check it?

In the mean time, if you want to make it work, I guess that deleting that folder (back it up first!) would fix your problem.

Trying to find where the save folder would be at. Would it be anywhere near
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Serious Sam HD The Second Encounter
or another location?

Actually... now.. it's just doing the same thing still, even though I had removed all save files (not that I had already completed the game or gone far redoing the campaign)... if there were someway I can stream to you what I'm seeing to give you further examination

What are you trying to say? You have deleted all save games, and even with no save games, it crashes when you enter the Load Game menu? Or is it only after you have created new saved games?
After I just created a new save after all others were deleted and opened the Load menu again

So if would mean your machine for some reason generates broken saves/thumbnails. Can you please send such a sample savegame/thumbnail so we can debug it on this side?

I also seem to be having this issue (or at least the same symptom of the game crashing whenever i go into the load menu). I'll include my log below. How should I send the save files?

Also, let me add that oddly enough, I do not have the same problem saving and loading games in Serious Sam HD TFE.

This happens all the time you "cleaning" your steam folder (deleting appcache, depotcache and some other folders). Try to delete steamapps\common\serious sam hd the second encounter\Bin folder and verify game's cache.

Thanks I tried deleting the folders you recommended and checking the game's cache but that didn't seem to fix my problem though, do you have any other suggestions?

I'm not sure if i or you understand me in the right way. My suggestion was to delete "bin" folder within "serious sam hd the second encounter" (not deleting appcache and depotcache folders) , so SamHD_TSE.exe would be erased from your PC. Then verify game's cache to re-download it again. If it's not helping then delete entire game via game library and re-install.
