serious sam HD doesn't start?!
hii, I have the problem when i start serious sam hd the loading tab pops up and immediately goes away. So it doesn't work.
Can someone help me with this?
if i try to launch the game programfiles (x86) > steam > steamapps > common > serious sam HD the first encounter > Bin. It says samHD.exe-error d3dx9_42.dll is missing.
I've followed the steps of the helpdesk from steam but nothing worked =/

Try to install/reinstall stuff from "Redist" folder, that is in the game folder. [Visual redists, DirectX, etc.]

But not latest version - install it from "Redist" game folder. You'll still have your latest DirectX, but with smthng more.

EternalMagus, I'm not going to comment marketing other stores here (*), but I don't think that's a sound advice - from the technical standpoint.

If people have one of the "latest" DirectX 10/11 installs which usually don't come with older versions of DirectX (9, 8...) then the classic versions of the game might not work either. The problem is with Microsoft starting to not redistribute backwards-compatible DirectX installers by default. Installing the Redist that is shipped with the game will fix that problem and there is no reason to re-buy an older version for that.

(*) Which is something that community moderators will most probably take against you assuming someone reports you for it, you might be warned/banned, etc.

If this was a case where the game just doesn't work and there's no way to make it work, I would understand.

But you are actually doing harm to the users, and therefore to us, when for something that is not an incompatibility, but simply a need for updated driver to be installed, you are advertising purchase of something else instead. There's no way to justify that as a "better" solution. The people already have this game and just need to install an update to make it work.

Furthermore, you are not replying to a recent question that was not otherwise answered. You are resurrecting threads that are already concluded, and several weeks old. And you did it to several unrelated threads in one session with exactly same copy-pasted text. How do you think that kind of behavior is normally classified by forum moderators (in any forum)?

I tried reinstalling direct X, I tried changing sound settings. I tried reinstalling and still would not start. I went in and decided to try compatability mode and it showed Windows 7, which is my OS and I ticked it to run in compatability Windows 7 and now it runs. WTH? Why do I need to run in compatability with the OS I have? Just another great game full of bugs from the wonderful minds of Built Em Badly.
