In order to complete the game, it basically is a requirement to do all of the minigames to some degree.
Personally I enjoy the game for what it is because in the end, the girls actually do end up respecting the MC over time. Considering the context in which their location is and why they ended up there, and potentially, you can see why in the original translation, it would be "punishment" instead of the politically correct "motivation".
