In before this thread explodes to yet another keyboard vs. controller debate... I don't have a gamepad either, and I'd say I've done fairly well without. Just use whatever you feel the most comfortable with.

Whoops, I somehow missed the remark about carpal tunnel. My left hand hurts sometimes, but only if I've been playing all day, which I shouldn't do anyway.
