Impossible Boy
How many people have this achievement legitimately? I know five or six people myself, both through Steam friends and YouTube, but I'm also aware it's possible to hack Steam to get the achievement. I mean, assuming half of achievement holders are legit, and 0.5% of Steam players have it, and 400000 copies of the Steam version have been sold, that is 1000 people who have completed Dark World Cotton Alley without dying - this can't be right, right? Anyone know an exact value? Or any means of finding out? I'm really interested :p thanks

Given that the combined sales from XBLA and Steam passed one million units over a year ago, I'm not that surprised. Of course there are bound to be cheaters like with all games (I recently came across someone who claimed to be a GOD at this game and had magically unlocked most of his achievements at exactly the same time), but it is also possible that many people who have unlocked Impossible Boy played Super Meat Boy when it was XBLA-only. I mean, Steam version has more achievements and different playable characters, so if you got really good playing the Xbox360 version getting the game again on Steam would probably be worth it. I hope you get my point.

So as many as 1000 people actually have this achievement? I'm impressed :p
Kuhaa 8. Juli 2013 um 4:02 Uhr
I didn't say that, and there really isn't any way to know for sure. I merely meant that I wouldn't be surprised if that were the case. Of course people cheat to get that achievement, but I'm having hard time believing so many would risk getting suspended for something like that.

As I said, a year ago over a million copies of Super Meat Boy had already been sold, so it has to be even more by now. People have had almost three years to do crazy ♥♥♥♥ with the game, and if we assume that the most hardcore players from XBLA also got Super Meat Boy on Steam, 1000 people with Impossible Boy does seem plausible. Because there obviously are still people who play the game with great passion.

Yeah, have you seen the crazy ♥♥♥♥ that people do with the game? I bet the <20 minute speedrunners got the achievement easy.

It's not THAT hard, you know. I've been playing SMB for only 4 months now and got the achievement not only once, but twice. I even recorded a speedrun of it (which I believe is the fastest one around): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xz0REuBK154

Yes, I've seen it :p awesome work man
Yeah that was a pretty cool video. There's nothing there to say you actually did that...like the achievement notification...Oh wait, that was your 2nd time doing it...sure...been playing for 4 months...hmm...BS. If you really did this you would've commented on how "this still isn't hard proof" or something but instead you're all "it's not THAT hard". Come on! I've been watching edits that look like this since kaizo mario videos got put on youtube.

The achievement is indeed on the extreme.
However, it is not impossible as the name claims to be. Not all of us are looking for bragging rights and feel the need to record every second we play to prove a point.

I personally only record moments in games that you don't generally find on youtube, or that I believe look pretty cool.
Whilst I don't have a video of myself completing impossible boy, you are more than welcomed to check my skill with a keyboard in other vids showing in my profile.

This topic has the same problem as TBOI by the way, the casual player needs above 100 hours to achieve platinum, while I'm merely on 12 and already cleared most of the achievements including some difficult ones. Only today I was challenged to get 2 of the hardest achievements, which I literally breezed through...
Some people are just better at games than others.

That is truly funny. You're right in one thing, though: it was my second time getting the achievement. Do you think I'd try to speedrun it the first time around?

You can easily check my total playtime (130 hours) and achievement spread by going to my profile page. Heck, I'll make it easy for you: http://steamcommunity.com/id/eruner/stats/SuperMeatBoy/?tab=achievements.

As you can see, I got my first achievement (Nostalgia, the easiest one) the first day I started playing: Mar 17, 2013. The last one was obviously Impossible Boy, in June 16, 2013. That is actually a little less than 4 months :)!

I'm a pretty hardcore gamer myself and have perfected a lot of hard (and harder) games before and after this one. Feel free to check my Youtube channel for more game-related videos.

And yes, I have to reiterate that SMB is not that much of a hard game: 4 months to master it are nothing compared to the 4 years it took me to comfortably play like this.

Necromancy!!

Yesterday I got Girl Boy Achievement and now only Impossible Boy left me to complete the game %100. But Cotton Alley Dark Word is just riddiculus. I think I should have at lest 3 weeks practise to beat this word without dying. It's a nightmare compare to the other words of the game and that's makes me sad.

Congratulations! Can i have some questions? =)
How much time it took for you? Also, you stats looks very legit (including "glitch time" of Golden God), but why you trying to complete worlds without death before completion of game?

I have problem if you want to call like that. I never finish a game before finishing all the side quests in the game because I don't like to runing in the world and beating regular mobs after beating the most powerfull thing in the game. And this achievements are like side quests to me. I got no death runs in World 1, World 2 and World 3 only wiith meat boy. After world 4 I used ogmo and in World 5 I used the kid with meat boy. And with the kid it got very easy.

Girl Boy Achievement got my 10-15 hours I guess. Maybe more. I'm not a good player actually so I practise a lot to get no death achievements.

After nearly 11 days I still suck at cotton alley dark world. I can't beat 4 levels in a row actually. I got better at some levels but most of them very difficult for me.
