Super Meat Boy

Super Meat Boy

Impossible Boy speedrun
I've been playing Super Meat Boy for about 4 months now and got pretty good at it. I decided I wanted to do a proper Impossible Boy Iron Man speedrun just because. Here it is:

This one is a "pure" Iron man run: correct level order, no "Exit to map" trick and, for the most part, fast level strategies. I'm also proud to say I came up with all the patterns/routes myself (although I had to slow down in some places). Apart from a few glaring execution mistakes, I was pretty happy with the result. WR, maybe?

Enjoy!

Alright, now it works! I have to say that...well umm...that is...quite impressive. Yeah. I just achieved Girl Boy an hour or so ago and I was extremely satisfied with myself. This video makes me look like ♥♥♥♥. :meatytears: You are good. And you've played the game for only 4 months!

You make those levels look so easy. Promise me you'll never take this video down because I will definitely use it as a reference when I'm doing this achievement. Sometime in the distant future...but I definitely will. At some point. To be completely honest, watching this actually made me feel that I could pull this off as well. Not in that order and not with that speed, but now I feel I totally could. The biggest problem I have is that I'm using Macbook Pro, and the Mac build isn't exactly very stable. 7-19: XOXO lags like a motherducker even with the lowest resolution and detail level.

But anyway, thanks for sharing this. I've been slowly doing these runs throughout the last year (I often take weeks and even months "off" playing this game), and I enjoy watching other people do runs such as this. It's not a competition, but those who've got the guts to only use Meat Boy (although it's not like you have a choice in Cotton Alley) and go through the levels in order have the biggest balls in my eyes.

Mistakes? Where? You do extremely risky patterns and there is NO mistakes. Do not believe. It is montage

Most obvious mistakes:

• 7–7X: Flew too high because I turned left in the last fan too soon. Lost about a second.

• 7–8X: Missed the hole in the fifth jump, so I had to do a small hop in order to reach Meat Boy. Lost about a second and a half.

• 7–9X: Wrong timing on both conveyor belts: I got propelled much farther than I used to. Lost about a second.

• 7–10X: Missed the right jump required to reach the bottom part of the stage's second innermost layer in the optimal time. This way, I had to wait for the missile launcher in the left instead of just dashing through the crumbling block. Lost about two seconds.

• 7–11X: Hesitated in the last sprint (I thought I would outspeed the saws before I could reach Meat Boy). Lost about a quarter of a second.

• 7–17X: Hesitated in the last sprint, again (I'm human, you know). Lost about half a second.

Levels I had to use safer, not-so-fast strategies: 7–4X, 7–5X, 7–13X and, finally, 7–20X. I ended up with 41.76 seconds in the last stage, which is ridiculously slow. I can easily do it under 39, but, at that point, I was pretty nervous and didn't want to risk dying yet again.

Oh, by the way: I will take your disbelief as a compliment :)! Thanks!
