Why do they push you to use an xbox controller?

I have an xbox PC controller, which I use for a few games, but i don't see why they have to tell you every single time you play to use your controller! It's a PC game, use the arrow keys and space bar.

A B X Y buttons are for an xbox, not a pc.

anyway someone could mod the game or edit the files so you don't get that stupid message all the time?

I'm loving the game though.

Open the key configs and set the keys to aswd and ijkl, it'll make your hands hurt less.
Also it's just giving you good advice. Be glad it's not an earshattering EA GAEMS CHALLUNS ERRYDANG type of thing.

I played a couple minutes with the keyboard, then I stole my sons logitech controller. Plays a lot easier with a controller, I feel. Though I only spent about 15 minutes so far. :>

Trust me, you might want to try and use an Xbox controller. It's a lot more confortable.

Yeah, i've actually used my xbox controller on SMB for a few hours but i wasn't really impressed, i mean it's awesome that i can use it, it's sometimes easier but it's more fun using classic keyboard controls.

I use my PS3 controller... To me it's FAR more comfortable than an X-Box 360 controller.

It was originally designed for the X360, so they figured you'd best enjoy the game should you play with a controller. And they are right, in my opinion. The game is a lot less frustrating and more enjoyable on a controller.

100%'d the game with a keyboard, tried using gamepad and I could barely beat world 1. Obviously that's likely due to the fact that i'm really used to the keyboard now, but i've never had trouble with the keyboard.

In fact, isn't it faster to press the left/right arrow keys compared to sliding your thumb across the d-pad or moving the analogue stick? Albeit by only a split second but it's still faster. It feels perfectly comfortable for me as well, hell, the only game I use the controller for is Dark Souls and that's because the port is terrible >.<

Exo's any% SS WR (18:39) http://youtu.be/Ede7qFbrbKI was played with a controller AFAIK. You can bet that, if it was in any way measurably faster to play with a keyboard, he would be doing that.

Srakaaaaaa did an Imposible Boy Iron Man run (Dark Cotton alley in correct order, no deaths) on keyboard, so it's definitely not because it's unplayable on keyboard, it's just a matter of what you're used to. I'm used to a controller, so I mess up with the keyboard all the time.

And as for the OP's question of why the message appears --- it's because the game was originally made for XBox 360 and hence for XBox 360 controllers. It's designed to be played with a controller, but if you prefer to use your keyboard that's fine too.

I used to ignore that "warning" at the start but I got to admit now that I have a controller it does feel alot better, but really don't feel your forced to buy it, it isn't crutial to just having a good game.

Anyone who uses a gamepad to play games is officially a button mashing scrub. Get some skill and precision accuracy in your life and you'll be a much better gamer in general. Console peasants are all scrubs.
