No sound effects on Linux.
Hi, I have a problem with the linux version of SMB.

At the beginning when I start an stage all works fine, but after a while, the sound effects just disappear, or sometimes it volume goes down until disappear. (only the sound effects disappear, the music keeps playing).

But sometimes, when I change the stage, the sound effects come back again.

anyone else with the same problem?

Yep, same issue. Running on openSUSE 12.3, with ALSA for sound.

Same problem on Mac. Some of the cut scene sound missing too, like the 'Warp Zone!' sound.

Ditto. Sometimes the Oracles disappear as well (which kind of kills the level, but boy does it make those bandaids easier to get :D)

Edit: Linux Mint 15 with the latest stable AMD drivers, if that helps.

Same problem, arch linux.
Same here, on Arch Linux with ALSA.
Same here w/Linux
Also, entering the warp zone at level 2-8 crashes my game but not sure if that's a linux thing

I didn't have exactly the same problem but I just got my issue fixed. I had no sound at all until I installed a few libraries and create a link.

The steps I needed...

cd /home/johnny/.local/share/Steam/SteamApps/common/Super Meat Boy/amd64
ln -s /home/johnny/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime/amd64/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libSDL2-2.0.so.0 .
sudo pacman -S lib32-libpulse
sudo pacman -S lib32-alsa-lib
./SuperMeatBoy

You people who are having issues should provide more information.

yeah, it works for me, but you don't have to do all of that.

The problem is that steam runs the 32bits version intead of the 64bits version.

The solution is to run the 64bits version from the terminal, but first you have to link the sdl library to the "amd64" folder, so the commands are the followings:

ln -s ~/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime/amd64/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libSDL2-2.0.so.0 ~/.local/share/Steam/SteamApps/common/Super\ Meat\ Boy/amd64/

~/.local/share/Steam/SteamApps/common/Super\ Meat\ Boy/amd64/SuperMeatBoy

But I read this from the SMB launch script:

# We only have Steamworks SDK for x86 at the moment, so if we were launched
# from the Steam Client, force 32-bit for now. We'll remove this when there's
# a 64-bit SDK available.

So this its only a temporary solution...
