what do you mean by it's running faster than it should? Is everything in a x2 speed but the bgm is fine?
Try comparing your speed to that of one on Youtube. If it's different, I have no idea what's wrong. I haven't heard of anyone experiencing this...

Yeah, that's exactly the problem, I compared it to my brother's copy which works fine on his computer

Well for starters - what are your operating systems?
I had SMB on windows xp without problems and now I'm playing it on Mac's Maverick again withtout problems.
@OP - what's the difference between your brother's pc and yours (assuming you both own PCs)

If you're on Windows, do you have some GPU control panel thing where you turned off vsync to get a better framerate? Turn it back on. If not, try upgrading your video drivers.

If you're on Linux or Mac, I just pushed a fix for this recently (game will clamp to 90fps even if your drivers don't).

Otherwise...I have no idea why that would happen.

What?

The game's simulation runs too fast if vsync isn't keeping your framerate reasonable. Super Meat Boy on good hardware can run at hundreds of frames per second, and things go wrong. It expects to run at closer to 60.

We force the game to slow down if vsync isn't working on Linux or Mac, but I haven't touched the Windows build. It should work there too, unless there's a GPU control panel forcibly disabling vsync.

Remember that this started as an XBox Live Arcade title, where vsync was a guarantee.
