Y u no start?
So I bought and downloaded SMB, but when I try to play it, it crashes. I'm not a tech wizard, so I don't really know how to fix this. I tried what the steam support page said, but that didn't really work. Anyone know how to fix this? I click start, it somewhat starts, but then an error thing pops up saying that SMB terminated itself in a weird way. Please help!

yeah, same problem here, i posted a discussion but got no help.
funny thing though, if i restart my pc and then open the game as soon as it gets to the desktop, it will work, but after that, nothing. some people have resolved the issue by running the .exe in compatibility mode.

50% launching game is the crash, no difference the pad is connected or not

Mine crashes as well, but I start it again and then it runs just fine. So yeah, it's like 50 % of all launch attempts result in crash. With old gamepad, with x360 pad, without pad - no difference. Don't know what's going on :/

For me, first start always crashes; second start always works.

Simple way of fixing this. Right click smb in your library, hit propertys. Look through the different tabs, in one of them there is a button that says "verify the integrity of game cache" click it. Let it validate it, let it download any missing files. Launch. It should work fine, if not, go into your computer's files, and follow the path Program Files (Program Files x86 if your running a 64 but operating system) and find the steam folder. (easier way is to just search the computer for the steam file folder.) After you open the folder, go into the SteamApps folder, go into common, and find the super meat boy folder. Find SuperMeatBoy.exe and go into it's properties. Run it in compatibility mode for Windows 7 or XP, whichever really. (someone correct me if I have the wrong compatibility mode, i don't really know which one to use.) If all else fails, go into steam, library, right click super meat boy, go to properties, and find verify integrity of game cache button, but don't click it. In that same page hit "remove local files" This will delete all SMB files. Afterwards do a fresh re-install of super meat boy. Hope it works for you.

Tried all of the above, it doesnt work.

When verifying integrity of game cache, there is always 1 file missing. it replaces it, then i try run the game, it crashes, then i verify again and its missing again.
