Linux: Visual stuttering/framedrop when Steam Overlay shows a notification
I just got my first inventory item from Super Meat Boy, but had to stop playing since the Steam Overlay popup slowed the game down to a few frames per second, making it unplayable.

Note that I'm using an NVIDIA GTX 660 Ti with the NVIDIA drivers, so the GPU shouldn't be the issue.

Someone reported this in Bugzilla, too, but it's worth noting that this is either a driver bug, an X server bug, or a Steam Overlay bug. There's literally no Overlay code in Super Meat Boy; Steam hooks into the process when you launch it to do the Overlay magic.

Does this happen with any other games?

I've seen some flickering in some other game, but I can't remember which one; I haven't seen this kind of slow-down before though.
I'm running Unity, which often does weird things to 3D, so that might be part of the issue.

On a more personal note, thank you for all your porting and toolset work through the years; if I had an award to give, you'd get one :)

I just want to say that I have GTX 650 Ti Boost with nVidia drivers and I have no issues with steam overlay. Game is running perfectly fine. I am using elementaryOS so it could be that Unity is the problem? I know it's 3d heavy...
