There is really no way to answer that question. What is "too hard"? Whats hard for me may be easy for you and vice versa.
It is generally considered a challenging game if that helps.

The bare minimum of beating the game (Meaning no dark world levels, just beating the storyline) has a decent amount of challenge, but the game never came across as "too hard," for me, personally. You will die thousands of times before you win, probably, but it never pushed me to ragequitting or anything.

The flow doesn't break from death, and you always make forward progress. If you stop making progress, stop playing. Watch a movie. Come back. And you'll magically be a lot better.

The fact you're asking this question, though, makes me wonder if you would even enjoy a game that kills you every five seconds. What kinds of games are you used to playing?

Its easier than surviving exposure to deep space without a spacesuit.
Its harder than eating a sandwich

It's only $2.99 you will probably regret not getting it when it goes back to $14.99

If it gets too hard I am sure there are some walk throughs and/or tips online to help you through. Plus, I hear you can skip a few levels per world.

As one who got the game yesterday my first impression is that its not too hard at first but you will find that it scales upwards kinda quickly.

But even though it is hard its worth every second of pain and rage. =)

Really hard...
Really worth it...
Although all the deaths make some really sweet replays
Agreed, you will die a massive amount of times during the game, gathering bandages and such. But, whenever I die I smile. It's not the kind of game that, when you die you get exhasperated and frustrated. It does get harder quite quickly once you get to the second world (after the forest). But if you don't have it I would highly recommend it.

Yes it's hard. But it still has a learning curve. The first chapter isn't too hard, the second one is where the difficulty starts to pick up and that's where I'm up to. But the way the game works is that youi die so much, and respawn so quickly, thaqt you'll find yourself doing the exact same thing over and over, but changing it slightly, until you happen to be lucky enough and make it through. And it just makes the level so much more rewarding when you beat it of course. And I love watching hundreds of Meat Boys all dieing at once when you watch the replay.
