No, you don't.
The longer you hold the jump key, the higher he jumps, if you just tap it he'll do a short hop.

What's your framerate while playing? If it's above or below 60 then it might cause issues.

Also, what are your computer specs?

I've also got this problem. Splatter and a jump button that's unresponsive.
Thought maybe a button on my Xbox controller was stuck at first, but controll calibration aren't showing any problems.

I figured out how to fix it. Just delete it and istall it again

I have rebound the jump key to x instead of space. I have x for jump and y/z for sprint. I find these keys more responsive than space.

Also: keyboard is just fine. I'm currently at 98%, probably not getting further due to my lack of skill, not due to control issues.

keyboard is fine but with for example xbox contrloler playing gives more fun. thats what I think
