Game Crashes Immediately?
As stated in the title, if i launch the game, it crashes almost immediately. It sits in a window for a sec, goes fullscreen, and then the thing that says it crashed and they are sending it to team meat appears. Anybody know why this is?

Often times, upgrading your video drivers will help. It might be you have a netbook without necessary GPU or something, too.
Nope, on a desktop that can easily run it. And they are fully up to date.

Heard a thing about trying it in windowed mode, but that didn't help either.

EDIT: Also of note, i'm on Windows XP SP3.

try installing the stuff in steam\steamapps\common\super meat boy\Prerequisites
Done that as well.
I found a thing that mentions that the distribution is completely broken and it's missing a file that it requires to run when you first install it. I'll look into this.

EDIT: Yeah, apparently it doesn't install a required .dll file that it needs to run.

EDIT 2: Got a different error when i did that. Still doesn't work. I'm just going to assume it's a broken game and be on my way then, literally every fix i've found ever doesn't work. Hell, maybe it just doesn't play very well with XP.

FINAL EDIT: I've messaged Mcmillan about it over his tumblr. Hate doing that since it is actually his personal thing, but since i don't have any other way to ask somebody who might know (Discounting the Dev Who Messaged) i had to. If he can't help me, i'll just try the game whenever i update to windows 7 and see if it works better.

Try verifying game cache
or
Running the game from the installation folder

Done both before i even posted the thread.

EDIT: I'll try a couple of the compatability modes on it. Perhaps that could work. Maybe. I highly doubt it but whatever.

Alright, i'm going to list every fix that i've been given that hasn't bloody worked:
Verify
Update Drivers (They are fully up to date)
"Stop running it on a pc that can't run it" (I'm pretty far beyond the specs.)
"Get the missing file" (Tried that, just made the error message different)
Update DirectX (It's fully up to date.)
Make Sure a firewall isn't blocking it (Same thing happened as always.)
Run it through the .exe (same result)
Use Windowed Mode (same result)
Set Resoloution to Low and Lowdetail (Same result)
Do the above togther (same result)
Compatability Mode (Same Result)

So if you have any suggestions, make sure they aren't listed.

And sorry if i seem like a jackass, but i just seriously want to play this. I've played a good bit of the Original Prototype and this seems like it would be fun.

i remember (and in fact the same appears to happen now even though im on an entirely different OS) that everytime i wanted to run the game i had to resintall everything in the prequisites folder (which for some reason i dont even have it anymore) which was directx and vcredist (not sure if frameworks was in the folder as well)
its not the same to just globally update directx btw

I have the same thing. The game always crashes on the first run and then it starts when I relaunch, and if I tab out of fullscreen mode and back in it crashes almost always.

Tried that a couple of times as well. No effect.

Something i just noticed, whenever i attempt to start the game, a very, VERY small window is visible for a sec before it goes fullscreen/large window.

And that's not exactly the same thing EmbAh, yours actually starts. Mine doesn't.

I've had similar issues. The game crashes for me a lot (though thankfully, never during a level-- always in between or when switching worlds). It's annoying but as I've yet to find a fix, I just put up with it.

same here, but i could solve it by a simple de and new installation :/

also got the same problem. but even more so when using steve character and giving a level the beating it deserves (i.e. ripping out and placing blocks). When switching to an other char its crashes the game....laptop and desktop running w7. Hardware requirements far beyond needed for the game. Hope they will fix this soon, its pretty anoying. BR hardcore fan
